hmmm I think that would cause stress. If I understand you right I believe that's how they make feminized seeds. Causing stress by messing up light cycles makes the plant thinks it's going to die....then produces seeds. Correct if wrong*

If I have my music on while my plants are sleeping, will this affect their grow cycle? Just wondering because my plants are trying to sleep and all, but I listen to my music very loudly...

you want your light/dark cycle to add up to a consistent 24 hrs and for flowering a minimum of 12 hrs uninterrupted dark is key.

don't know about the effect of music on plant growth but hopefully the squeal of a fan has no ill effects!

If what I think your talking about is correct, its the exact same thing as growing outdoors. Outdoor plants dont get exactly 12 hrs of sun and 12hrs of darkness (which many people think you must have to flower) and the sun rises and set's at different times every day all season long

ribbet29 is correct (unless you are on the equator and even then 12/12 is a limited time) BUT indoor growers have found that 12/12 consistently flowers current strains with minimal hermaphrodites (something the sun doesn't care about). Also note that while the darkness/lightness changes - the changes are consistent (days longer towards summer/shorter towards winter) and the darkness/light equal 24 hrs. So if you want you can start flowering with 12/12 then add a minute of darkness to both the end and the beginning of your dark period. So in a couple of months you'll be on a 14/10 cycle which is just fine (increases time to harvest but should increase yield).

If you are growing indoors and can afford to experiment - give your idea a try.

Yeah, I have that too. haha.

May we ask why you would want to do this? I like my timer. It's pretty reliable and has a lifetime warranty.

Just to try it and see what happens. I also have music on for my young ones while they sleep, they definitely enjoy it.
