My plant is around 3 weeks into flowering and I'm wondering whether I should use more additives in my nutrient mix or not. Right now, I'm on schedule with the foxfarm feeding schedule. I have all three Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom in my feeding mix.
What are some nutrients that have proven to be helpful in increasing yield and budding rates?
I've used the full FF line up and have been unhappy with them during flowering. My suggestion would be to go down to the local garden shop and pick up a tub of jacks classic bloom booster, and a small bottle of dyna grow general purpose formula. Those will set you back less then $20 total, and will completely replace the FF stuff. They are also a bit better balanced for plant health and should keep your girls from developing deficiencies late in flowering. For vegging just cut the jacks classic out and use the dyna grow. Or you can keep using the FF nutes for vegging- I haven't got any complaints about their vegging nute mix, just the flowering.
One other cheap product that you can us to help increase yield and bud weight is unsulfured molasses. You can pick it up at the local grocery store in the same aisle with the syrups for a couple or bucks. Molasses contains glucose the plants normally have to create for themselves through photosynthesis, so during flowering it lets your plant add more and heavier buds without having to work as hard. I add 1 tablespoon per gallon to normal waterings (not the waterings that I add other nutes to) and the plants love it.
Note- this all assumes you are growing in soil. If you grow in hydro I don't know what to suggest.
Yes I am growing in soil. I'll try the molasses out tonight. Does it say that it is unsulfured? Or can i just assume that it isn't?
I'll go to my shop and see if they have the jacks classic bloom+dyna grow.
THanks for the tips!
Sorry about the slow response. It should say unsulfered. I use "grandmas molasses" myself, and it's say on the label that it is unsulfered.
Just a note on the nutes- Start out with them at between 1/4 and 1/2 strength and slowly increase the dose with each watering until your see the first signs of nutrient burn. At that point back off a little on the nutrient strength and you should have the "dosage" your plants can handle without developing any problems.
