Temps in my grow area shot up to over 120 degrees! What will high temps do to them..
Over the past couple days the temp out side has gotten up to 80 here. My grow area is up in the attic. When i went up in there today the temp was over 120! My plants are with in weeks of harvesting. I'm in the second week of flushing. I'm afraid they're going to mildew. But the humidity is 20. They look like they are thriving big time since flushing 4 days ago and like the combination of the high heat or something. So many pistols are growing. They were slowing down in putting on weight, i thought the trich's were gettin ready to turn and now this burst of growth. They are 11 to 12 weeks into flower and 14 to 15 12/12. Any suggestions or ideas about the heat? And is it normal for them to have a burst of growth like that at this stage?

the burst of growth is normal, im surprised your not seeing signs of stress. can i see a pic? it might be beneficial to chop now. 2 weeks flush is plenty, did you use a flushing agent? 120 degrees is sooo hott, strain dependent but you may kill them with those temps. i stressed mine with 90ish degrees.

What happened to them at 90 degrees? I guess theres no way to use that area this summer! I don't have another and I'm too freaked out to grow em outside! Is there anyone one that has this heat problem, any solutions on cooling it a bit in there? It is closed in and about 14x6 area.

you would have to open it up, maybe put a fan up there blowing down and out of the attic ...suck the heat out. otherwise chop em down and buy a tent. get one for $100 on ebay

I always see a burst of growth after I flush, which is why I started doing it earlier, as well as at the end. It try to do it during the first three weeks, then at the last two week, which helps them fill out nicely. The heat will likely cause problems, so if you can't get it down too much, just make sure you keep them watered, and make sure you keep a good fan(or two) running. I even kick mine on throughout the dark period, because I believe it helps prevent bud mold, rather than letting them sit idle in the darkness all night.

I had decided today to switch my lights to being on at night instead of day time. The cfl's are creating extra heat. I turned the lights off and checked the temps up there 3 hours later. The temp had come down from over 120 to 90! Much better. This is the first time I have flushed any of mine and it really works great! They love it! They just look so much healthier since I started flushing them.

It has been my experience that high temps like that ("one-teens" to "one-twenty") wont kill the plants. But it will, pretty much, stop any additional growing and developement. Since your plants are already close to harvest, you should be ok (any harm the heat may cause has already been done). Just watch them like a hawk, high temps cause them to go through water like crazy!
If there is any way to add ventilation to your attic, do it! Any air being drawn in will help blow hot air out. You might even squirt some water on your roof during the hottest part of the day (evaporating water makes a great cooler)!
