    Default weak ass stems.

Why are so many seeds having weak ass stems,a lot of stems cant handle the weight of the bud.my suspicions are that as so many people put pollen on the most resinous they do not take in account the structure of the stem,i remember one knowledgeable person years ago telling me that if it didn't have a strong joint were the branch met the stalk they discarded it,but i don't think that happens often enough these days, but i don't know for sure.

thats a good point. im sure there are the breeders out there that are not as interested in breeding plants to make stronger limbed strains as they are about finding the most potent and biggest yeilders. interesting topic IMO

most outdoor plants grow strong stems from being in the elements....if you have a good grow room with good ventilation and fan action your plants will be strong stemmed .... but I have noticed that even with a strong stemmed plant,,if you tie up the branches when they are budding,,,the buds get really huge...much bigger then if they are not tied up

I agree some strains seem phater stemmed then others,,,but in general it is the growers actions that will determine stem thickness in the end.... just my opinion ;^)

agreed, but even when conditions are right, and air flow has strengthened stems+stalks, u have to consider all the nutes(big bloom, molasses, etc.) that growers add. plants produce such fat nugs that the stems are pushed to their weight limits

perhaps when at the right weight and ripeness the bud snaps the stem and ultimately "falls" off the plant as does other fruiting trees such as apples, coconuts, passion fruit, etc. just a wild thought

    necessary evil.

when the stems break because the nugs are so fat haha

i try to catch them beforehand and string them up.

i also have a fan on the babies from day one. this tends to help.

I agree and disagree. I have some GWS, and some freebie seeds that i was given by Seed Boutique. The GWS filled out great, thick stems, great growth, great yield. Could not ask for better quality of a plant that all of these GWS had. Right next to them were the freebie seeds, that are not supporting their weight anymore and hanging something nasty, all of the freebie seeds are tied up...

Of course breeders give out the seeds that are not as vibrant as the ones they charge for, but then again if you actually go to a reputable dealer and buy some seeds, the chances are you should be getting a quality plant, but if they are freebies.... The chances are they are not going to be as good a pheno one would look for keeping a mother..

    Just my opinion.
