Please don't top your plant. If you do you will mess it up bad.Cutting off the top is removing the built up hormones that make the rest of the plant bud. You need to put a couple of stakes onto the outside of the container and secure them so they won't move around. Then tie the main stem to the stakes but don't choke the stem and cut off the circulation. Next you slowly curve the top down and away from the light and secure it with some twine. Try not to kink the stem by curving it too much in one day. If you kink it ,don't bend it up and down, just secure it in place. The buds will grow sideways toward the light
