A lot of people on here are very young and full of testosterone and must use their anonymity of the Internet to scream and yell at others.
It's more prevalent here on rollitup than any other forum I've ever been too.
Usually people offer their varying opinions, and people will sometimes disagree...but not to the point that they start calling each other names, as commonly happens on 90% of the rollitup posts.

Uncle Ben....you know what your talking about, everything you've said in your responses on here is spot on.
+Rep for UB everyone!

Regarding the darkness at the end of the flowering cycle. I tried this on 1 plant, and I saw no noticeable bud growth in 3 days of darkness.
I call it a myth, and I believe Uncle Ben is spot on in saying "buds are produced by photosynthesis" IE...light=more buds, not dark=more buds.:cuss:

My plants get 24 -36 hours of darkness, it is just slightly after the harvest when I hang then in the drying room.... where there is low humidity, mid range temps and low light levels.... does nothing to increase harvest though it has been known to reduce mold formation....

hahaha people u are forgetting that plants have 30days worth of stored up energy so why are we talking about photosynthesis the last 24-72 hours before harvest? u guys just think its a good argument cuz ub said this and ub says that lol....The energy harvested via the light reaction is stored by forming a chemical called ATP (adenosine triphosphate), a compound used by cells for energy storage. This chemical is made of the nucleotide adenine bonded to a ribose sugar, and that is bonded to three phosphate groups. This molecule is very similar to the building blocks for our DNA.

plants wont process co2 without light ... thus photosythethis is required.... guess you hit the limit of your cut and paste ability with wikipedia....

haha ur such a noob dont talk if u dont really know...they open their stomates during the dark period and take in c02 and incorporate the c02 into various organic compounds to store it

Just wanted to say that Uncle Ben wasn't attacking anyone, just supplying some advise! That's why we are all on this right? I'm almost done with my first grow just using info I got on sites like this and turned out extremely well! Got 3 lovely super skunk ladies under a 150 watt HPS and looking robust. I have heard of this technique and I may try it with one plant to see for myself if this will work. Either way, can't F'ing wait!!! 420baby, chill bro! Uncle Ben, gonna try your topping techniques on my clones! Was too affraid to mess with my first grow. Went all natural!

I have heard of cutting lights out for resin production, the only problem with that is the resin glands are actually a barrier to protect the plant from the sun. Its actually one of the few plants that do this. So decreasing light, contradicts this. Thats why people go back to their halides and reptile lighting late in flower. they produce more uv rays. I cut my lights out last 5 days, and flush for 21 days, to insure the plants metabolism slows down and stops taking in any reserve starches or nutes that may be stored in the leaves, even the medium or roots. I chop in complete dark to avoid this as well. Next we will hear about harvesting during the moon's cycles.
