Thinning mothers...Good or bad?
Hi all, I have a few mothers that I are about Two months old. They are doing great. Growth is only about 1.5 foot tall but they are very bushy.
Today my girlfriend insisted on cleaning them up a bit.
She clipped several of the lower leaves to open up the lower area of the plant. None of the leaves were dead or even dying.
When I asked why she thought this needed to be done she said that it would help open up the bottom area of the plant and let more light in.
Was this a good idea or not? I am of the thinking, if it aint broke dont fix it!
What about plants in veg and in flower as well?
Thanks for your help.

I am of the same thinking as you, but this is a never ending argument that different people see different ways. It can also allow for more airflow through the plant area, for what that is worth. I like to trim away dieing leaves that are about 75% dead or more, just for aesthetics. It isn't going to hurt your plant per se, but if it is beneficial, I bet the differences are negligible.
