Hello

Just ordered two cool tube 600w HPS and a 20 pot atami wilma autofeed system. I'm going to veg 18/6 for four weeks and flower 12/12 for six weeks. Im planning to grow buddha cheese.

Could anyone give me an idea of what I can expect to yield?

Any sugestions to increase my yield would be gratefully.

This will be my first grow & will post pictures of setup when it arrives.

if your only going to veg for four weeks with 18/6 i would get an autoflower strain or a cross breed of an autoflower strain because that isn't very long for 18/6 i would do just 4 weeks of 24/0 and than 11/13 for six weeks. if you use what your going to in my opinion, i dont think you will yield very much from the plants. and if you get an autoflower strain than it will flower without you even switching your light so it will bud quicker as well i think.

I dont want to go autoflower simply because I want to keep a couple of mother plants so as to have a constant grow. What about six weeks 24/0 veg then six weeks flowering? Thanks for quick response :-)

Really? I veg for 3 weeks at which time my plants are about 18 inches and usually yield 3-4 oz per plant.

I've grown many different strains over the years, lately I've been staying with Power Plant, Durban Poison and Sage n Sour. I veg for 18/6 under a 600 and move them under 1000's during flower. Flowering time is strain dependent but average is about 9 weeks, sometimes 10.

whoa!! your so smart haha
ok lisen veg for two weeks(18)6) They should be around a foot tall. When they are done they should be 3-4 feet tall.... if you veged for 4 weeks they would be about 5-6feet tall. Now do you think your little 600 watts hps will cover 20 5 feet tall trees? didnt think so.......... veg for two weeks... twenty plants should bring you in about a 0.5-2 pounds with your setup. Now its up to you to give them what they need. constant temps and good ventilation. Intake low and Outtake high. 1 large size fan for circulation. Its hydro so im sure you order the nutes

flylikeaneagle how many plants do you grow? Do you think two 600w HPS will cover 20 plants in my wilma system? I would like at least an ounce a plant dried weight. Thanks again

I'm not familiar with the wilma system but if I were to do 20 plants under 2 600's I would only veg them to about 8 inches (depending on the strain), otherwise you are not going to have enough room/light. When I ran 600's in flower I had 6 plants under each light which was pushing it and is why I moved to 1000's. Growing 4 plants under a 600 will produce about the same yield as growing 10, the difference is it is faster with more plants because you are not vegging as long.

thats v helpful thankyou. maybe I should chance it with three lights over 20 plants and see what happens. I plan on having two grow tents with 20 in each. I have only ordered four (2 in each) hps so maybe I should order two more just to be safe. and then four seperate mothers under cfl. I am worried about keeping electric to a min... but need a decend yeild to keep the op going. 40oz every three months would be more than enough to cover cost & smoke...

When you say you yeild 3-4oz a plant is that dried weight?

Sorry long term member but newbie to grow...

Any & all help is greatly appreciated!

that dude has no idea what he's talking about. my cheese goes 18/6 for 3 weeks then 12/12 for 9 weeks. and you made a great choice on the strain if your looking for huge heavy stinky buds.

20 pot wilmas have quite small pots on the relatively, compared to a 8 or 16 pot, it will be quite tight if you go for too bushy plants, the pots on those systems can't be much more than 8".

your veg time is going to be long enough, because your not going to want to get them to big otherwise it will be un-managable in the wilma,

your biggest problem your going to encounter in the wilma, besides new grower minor errors is going to be stretching.

what kind of medium were you intending on putting in the wilma, hydroton and rockwool?

Was thinking rockwool but again if you think otherwise would be better then Im going with you. Choose budda cheese because I got a 8th the other day and was impressed. What could I expect to yeild growing SOG and whats the veg & flower time for that method. Need to do some reading when I get home tonight. Thanks for all the input - need as much help as possible.

Same here. I also think that 24 hour light is a waste of electricity. It's natural and beneficial for plants to have a dark period to rest, and i believe it stresses them to be on continuous light. Some will disagree I'm sure, but I never found it necessary to run continuous light. I'll always use 18/6.

I kind of dislike the rockwool hydroton mix, because you have the plant and the main rootball developing in the rockwool, which is pretty good at retaining water, where as hydroton the water has washed over them then its gone in a second, so its an unbalanced medium, you need to feed regularly for the roots in the hydroton but then you keep the rockwool too wet. I personally like the micro rockwool called cellmax, if you pad your rockwool cubes in the pot with this stuff then the medium will be better balanced for water retention and you won't have to feed so often.

I think in all honesty though your going to achieve an average of 2 ounces per plant in the kind of setup your trying, which would give you a net dry weight of around 40 oz.

Providing you get it right of course.

You can't say how long you are going to Flower for.... It is dependent upon the plant and how you want your bud to come out.
Look up when to flower on these forums.

I agree. Unless you plan to cut them early, your plants won't be done flowering , at six weeks. Most strains take a minimum of eight weeks, to finish. Keep that in mind, when planning your planting times.

I would pay no attention to him. 4 weeks veg is plenty at 18/6. Although I do not include germination and sprout time in that 4 weeks. As far as yield goes thats hard to tell. Being it is your first grow an ounce or two per plant should be within reach, possibly more. Good Luck Bro.
