I want to take clones from the mother plant, flower the mother plant, veg these clones and eventually clone these clones and then flower the first batch of clones after a few months of veg. Would there be any down side to doing it this way as oppose to just continuously flowering the clones of the mother? My mother plants are growing to large for the grow room (yes, i know they shoot up more in flowering).

i have the same problem, i need to flower my mom quick i plant on tying down kinda list lsting the mom so that it won't burn.

Back to your question, you can do that as long as you veg the clone long enough for it to be a strong plant then clone from it. Don't clone from the clone if its still a weak plant make sure its healthy.

This situation has been thought about quite a bit by myself as I'm in that certain time period.

I would suggest flowering your first set of clones and leaving the original mothers from seeds as mother plants as long as you can.

I would only flower the mother after it was a space concern. I also suggest LST'ing the crap out of your plant, topping (FIM), and/or planting your plant sideways in a tub if height is an issue.

The reason I say this, is that, your seed-grown mother has a developed root system and can take the lost of the limbs of the plant a lot better than clones. (basically a mature plant)

But back to the point, By flowering the mothers, yes, you're going to get weed faster, but it will set you back in the long run.

You'll need to wait for the clones to grow to a size that you can remove clones from them, then wait for the clones of the clones to bud.

Not to mention you also endanger the possibility of loosing your entire crop by relying on a clone to survive unforeseen diseases, bugs, etc.

If you can wait a lil bit longer it will be well worth it. You'll be rewarded with a then constant supply of buds .

A friend once told me that the first 6 months are the worse.

How true is that?

The first six months have to be the worst because you are still in the process of setting everything up such as box, lights for both rooms, etc. Also you are still learning a lot. As you gain experience it gets easier because you don't have to read about what to do, it just comes natural.

My mother plants grew from seed to be about a meter within a couple months. I figure by the time the clones are a month and a half I can clone them and begin vegging those, let the first set of clones recover a couple weeks from the branches I cut off by that time the first mother plant would be done flowering. By this time those clones that vegged two months would be quite large I would imagine and be sent into the flowering room. Just not sure if there is any down side to potency or growth (budding or flowering) if this is done.
