hi there everyone,

had some plant matter left over after harvest...( male plants, stems, leaves etc..)

decided to make cannabis oil out of it.

mixed all the plant material with the afore mentioned alcohol.. soaked, stirred agitated etc... strained with a flour baking type strainer , then filtered all mater out again using paper coffee filters.

was left with with green coloured alcohol..
proceeded to evaporate off all the alcohol (well i hope all) by putting the liquid in a sauce pan and placing into another saucepan of boiling water...(ie no direct heat...)

this took ages!!!

i wasnt left with oil like i thought but when it was all evaporated off.. i was left with a sticky yellowy brown sludge

very grainy and sedimenty....and very very sticky and messy..

is this shit ok to smoke?????

i tried to smoke it but it was seriously hard going ...very very strange smoke...

was the isoproply alcohol (isopropanol as used in the electronics industry for cleaning pcb's and as a solder flux..) ok to use for this????

am i going to kill myself with some toxic smoke????

why was i left with a sticky bitty sludgy hash type substance and not oil???

people please advise!!!!!!!

oh so if you see it you can tell if its alright to smoke...

and you can also tell if its ok to make sludge with isopropanol...when u see a pic???

look. to keep yous all happy i'll take loads of pictures in the morning and post them tomorrow nite!!!

anyway- in the mean time, does anyone on here actually know anything bout what im talking about...and does anyone on here actually read text. as opposed to- if there's no pictures i dont understand .... what with me being all of 5 years of age!!!!

didnt realise u were from "kanada"...

It's okay to use isopro alcohol but most prefer 180 strength alcohol (think its everclear). Just for the reason you mentioned the taste when burned. But I have heard of people using lighter fluid to do this too.

Do a goggle search for honey oil and find a pic. See if its close to your sludge.

i think there's some chemistry experiments on erowid. i believe butaine is most commonly used for cannibus extraction.

if you were left with a sludge, (I am gona take a stab here) I bet you did not filter it good enough. I am compairing it to oil. the finer the filter used on oil, the cleaner it gets. like I said though, just a stab. take it a face value if you want.

I think Butane like was said before is the best, it completely evaporates as it is a gas, the alchohol is a liquid so I would bet that you are going to be smoking alot of "other" things you may not want to. Just my expierience.

aight guys.. check my gallery... there are 2 pics of the afore mentioned sludge...

i actually got butane today..(lighter refill) and tried to purify my sludge a bit more...

what happened was- the sludge froze and went rock hard... and i had to go through the whole process of heating it again to get it all soft n squidgy....

tawni- butane is also a liquid, just at lower temps.... i think butane starts to boil off at about 6 degrees centigrade
isopropanol (isoproyl alcohol) starts to boil off at about 20 degrees centigrade.....

anyway- look at pics, comment and advise.

didnt get a chance to up load pics of plants as they were in their dark phase and didnt want to disturb them... i have the lights on from 20 00 to 08 00 to save on lecy but im working nights this month so its a bit awkward... : )
