Default my buddy is giving me a hard time
can someone help me me and my buddy have the same setup ...2 4/4 trays and 2 600 watt digitals...to me it seems like they dont cover the space well only if you raise them to like 24inches to me thats to far for tight buds... now my idea was to make a light strip with 12 23 watt cfls that i bought as part of pge energy saving program ...4 for 50 cents isht u not so i loaded up like 10 packs for 5 bucks....but back my idea i thought it would add light in betweent the two 600s improving those plants... he thinks its a waste of money and wont show any improvement ....what do guys think is he right or would 12 23 watters warm whites work .......what would you suggest

i think 2 600w lights are sfficient, thats what i use.
however you could place reflective mylar or some other similar material across the two lights and space them further apart creating a bigger hood

peace

i thought of trying the mylar thing a couple of times but never got round to it reason being that the coverage 2 600w lights give eachother when theyre placed side by side is extremely good.
i never go by measurments for how high I place my lights just place them high enough not to burn them, about 40-50cm away from my plants is where i hang my lights

do you penetrate well.. and 20 inches seem a little high no....in america i guess 40 cm is about 15 inches and 50 would be about 18 inches i think ,,,, and does mylar burn

mylar doesnt burn it reflects light and quite a bit of heat,
if you dont overcrowd your growroom light penetration isnt an issue

Go for it bro. I wouldnt reccomend making one light fixture. I would make mulitple light fixtures and hang them in different area of the plant. keep in mind that a cfl works much better when mounted/hung in the horizontal position rather than the vertical position. CFls work great for supplemental lighting around your plants. Just make sure that they dont burn your plants and that they dont block the hps light you are using.
