Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of material I should use to induce flowering on my outdoor babies? It seems that the cover must allow very little light through, though I still need to maintain air flow.

Plastic would not allow enough airflow though would black cotton material block enough light?

I don't know, but you might research the Dutch farmers. You can find sites that show them doing exacty that. Also, California strawberry farmers do the same thing. Might be an answer there.
