Default +REP Flushing soil w/ tap IS THIS OK??
Hey RIU,

Im growing a few plants in soil and Ive come to the conclusion that I have over-fertilized them and now I need to do a heavy flush.

My question is can I use tap water for this and will the chlorine, pH, and dissolved solids cause more of a problem than it'll fix.

Any good info with experience is greatly appreciated and will recieve a +REP.

Thanks in advance.

The tap water will be fine for flushing. try to use 3 times the pot volume then let them drain/dry out well before watering again.

you could do it if u had no cchoice but it will probally fuck up your ph and possibley more harm depending on the quality of the tap water. the chlorine part is actually irrelevent, it doesnt hurt/effect the plant it kills some of the microbacteria or whatever they are called to die(which is bad cuz they actually help turn stuff the plant cant/doesnt use into useable stuff .

I would use ro water but you can use an air stone and powerhead to remove it from tap water.

if your ph is off/fluctuating it inhibits the process of taking up nutrients. but as long as you ph the tap water it will be fine unless its bad quality. buy a pur water filter or something like that is what i recommend
