Default First grow going well, one issue though please help!
This is my first grow and I decided if i'm going to do this i'm going to do it right. I have a grow lab with a 400w HPS that also came with a MH conversion Bulb. The two lBigger plants (Both Kushberry) were put in Miracle Gro Organic potting mix before I knew it was bad. All of the small plants (3 white widows, 2 unknown, and 1 citral skunk) are all in fox farm organic. I use tap water left to sit for at least 24 hours which has a ph of 7.5. The run off PH is 6.8 which I beleive means my soil is around 6.5. All plants have been on 12/12 for 3 days now. The two kushberry vegged for 20 days and then I decided to force flowering because of height issues (both were over 12" already) During Veg I did use some Peruvian Seabird Guano at a diluted amount and the plants seemed to love that. I used only water for the 2 watering's before switching to 12/12 and then the day of flowering i used some Indonesian Bat guano (accidently at full strength) and some Sweet synthetic Carbohydrates. The deficiencies started when flowering began. I water every 3-4 days on the kushberry which are in 5 gal pots with good drainage (the bottom layer is pea pebbles) I now know the 5 gal is way to big for my space, but i didn't know that when i transplanted from the jiffy cups. My temp stays between 78 - 82 degrees, Humidity at around 55%. I have excellant ventilation and air circulation (fan) and cool air intake. I run an ozone generator when I'm not home in case of unexpected visitors (family with keys). There are no bugs (since I got rid of the fungus gnats - dang mg soil) I have narrowed my problem down to nute burn b/c of the MG time release soil. My question - is there a way to flush the mg organic soil or will this just release more of the time release nutes creating mor of a problem? should i let everything dry out for a week and then start with just water for awhile? Or should I just leave it alone b/c its only on some of the bigger, midlle and lower fan leaves? ( any help would be greatly appreciated. ty

also, the smaller plants vegged for 10 days and then were added to the 12/12. I wanted these to stay small just to get a small amount of some other strains to try. These have not shown sex yet (obviously b/c they are only 16 days old at this point) and the Citral sklunk is the only fem seed out of the small ones. I'm hoping there is only one or two females out of the others, or i will be in trouble for space and light. Oh btw, lights are about 2 feet away from my plants. **I included a pic of one of the widows, it has a small hole in one of the leaves. everything else is great with the plant. just a deformed leaf?

Burned leaf tips genarally means nute burn miricle grow soil it fully loaded with nutes! bad for seedlings. as for flushing miricle grow you have a dilema! apart from that temp humidy air lights are good, i use biobizz nutes because they are gentle to the plants gaunos are strong as hell, guano and miricle grow as a combination on young plants is a little harsh, as for what to do i cant help you. good luck! sombody else on this website will know what to do

well

that might not be fert burn, it looks alot like ozone damage.
if your keeping your ozone gen in the same room as your grow, move it.
plants no likey da ozone.

if it is fert burn
dont let it dry out completely. you will damage the root structure, and severely hurt your yield.
get an N-P-K soil test kit.
then youll know if it is a fert issue, and be able to adjust your feeding

ok you water has a ph that is too high, if your runoff is 6.8 that doesnt mean the soil is 6.5.
it just means thats all the acid that could be absorbed on the way through.
get a soil sample ph tester.

flush with reg water, alot.
adjust water to a ph in the mid 6's, then flush again.

you can never get mg timerelease out, well you can soak it in water for a few months, that would do it.

and 10 days isnt enough time in veg, not nearly enough time.

if you start them in smaller cups, say about reg coffee cup size, they stay shorter, leave them in till the roots poke out the bottom. and you only need a monster pot to grow monster pot
if your only growing to a height of 24" or less you can use something the size of a folgers plastic coffee can.
you have to use a bit more fert towards flowering, but i mix bat guano (naturally composted with miner clay traces, i found an old wash in a cave), and wormcasting in with my soil, and try to keep live earthworms in there too.
a 5 gallon container would support a plant up to like 8 feet or more

12 inches at 10 days?? mine are 2 weeks and only 3-4 inches tall. 3-4 inches of nothing but branches.

and yes those do look like some beAutiful children.

if theres anyone out there that remembers in living color

i give it 2 snaps up.

Thank you, i will move the ozone generator immediately and start adjusting my PH in the water. To clarify, the two bigger ones were 12" at 20 days. All of the Plants on the right (6 of them) were under flouro's for 5 days, moved to 24 hours under an MH for 5 days and then switched to 12/12 at the same time as the bigger two b/c of space issues. They are currently 4" with 3 nodes each. I know yield will be smaller this way, but the large two are female and the smaller ones are just for small amounts of other strains.

Another question. Wouldn't the younger plants on the right side of my grow-room show the same symptoms from the ozone? They have been exposed to it for the exact same amount of time.

It could be a small bug, minor nite burn, light burn or over watering. I'd only water like 1-2 times a week, and apply nutes every other watering. Put lady bugs in your grow I have some n they protect your grow
