Whats the best way to remove dead/dying leaves?

I have been pinching off any dead/dying leaves up to this point but I wonder if there is a better way to remove them. Should I be cutting them off and if so what should I cut them off with so that it affects the plant as little as possible?

It is always better to use a small scissors to prune your plants, than to simply pluck off the growing tips by hand.

Is the angle of the cut important and how close to the main stem should I make the cut?
