my plant is forsure a female, it has about 15-20 "hairs" on the stem ive been vegging for about 6 weeks. when is it the right time to switch from "veg" nutes to "bloom" nutes? does it hurt the plant to veg longer? how long is too long?

The good news is that it's impossible to veg a plant for too long! Those hairs you are seeing are most likely the beginning stages of pre-flowering. It's a sign of sexual maturity and nothing more. I would only start using bloom nutes when you switch your light cycle to 12/12. Other then that you can veg for as long as you like. It's generally unnecessary to veg for more then a couple months but some like to go big! The problem with letting a grow get too big is lighting. WIthout sufficient light you can actually stunt your plant's yield and potency, especially at a larger size.

If you have all of those "hairs" you aren't really in veg anymore. Your plant is beginning to flower. What's your light schedule, has it changed?? If not you can veg for a long time.
When the plant starts producing flowers is when you want to switch your nutes. Agree with RanTyr to wait til 12/12 |

thanks for the information. im a first time grower and i truely appreciate it. i think i have suffecient lighting. im only growing 1 plant in a small, reflective closet and i have a total of 12 26w clf 6500k. 8 with "y" sockets above/around the top of the plant and 4 surrounding it midway down the plant. the lights are all very close to the plant. and im still on a 16:8 lightingl

k man switch to 12/12 and expect your plant to double in size, at least. Hope you have room! Give it maybe a few days for the plant to get used to the new light cycle and then start with the bloom nutes. oh, and you're going to want to switch some of your daylight (6500) with 2700 lights, better for flowering. 2700 promote stem and branch growth which is important so your plant can support itself once it starts growing big sticky buds!

yeah jane, ive got plenty of room. my top lights are adjustable so i can keep raising them all the way to the celing. but since ive kept my lights so close my plant is alot wider than it is tall. and should i switch all of my lights to softer lights during flowering or keep about half 2700k and half 6500k?
