food dehydrator to dry theirharvest? are there down sides to using one? can you use it just to start or speed up the drying to get to the curing pocess

I've never used one but I've heard of them being used. Sure, if you have access to it, knock yourself out.

why is It no good? what does it do to make it Taste bad? I personly dont have one but I was reading a book that talk of using one. and I was courios if anyone here has tried it and what the out come was? some say it causes a harsh taste some love it. even heard it works great if you take the heating element off and just use cold air on it

depends. the cheapo roncos aren't it. They lack a fan, require moving the racks around and zero control of the temp.

Typically the dehydrators get frowned upon because most run too hot. My Excalibur unit only goes as low as 85F. Cut out the heater, and its only a fan dried box, not going to decrease the dry time much. Too much heat and the the THC starts to breakdown.

A more natural dry time usually leads to a better tasting bud.
As the old saying goes, haste makes waste.

BTW, I've never used it to dry weed.

A good friend couldn't wait on his post harvest stash & used one - also not a proper cure. Taste was like smoking from your lawn, harsh.
IMHO good bud is like wine - it simply takes time to allow it to dry/cure properly and shortcuts tend to produce less than satisfactory results.
But thats just me.

taste bad is really harsh will turn yer bud brown just all around bad news. like said if you could cut the heat out it would be great but thats kinda like hanging it and putn a fan blowin on it and that would be cheaper and and quicker... try it if you want just only put 1 bud in so you dnt ruin a lot of your stash...

If you use one to dry your weed you will regret it instantly. Yeah I tried this with a typical plastic style dehydrator with the stackable trays and the little heating element at the bottom.

It "dryed" the weed in just 2 hours man...2 hours. I got some wet shit from my dealer once and tried this so I could at least smoke right? Wrong!!!!!

The shit was dust man.....dust.

If you like smoking dust then knock yourself out.
