the stuff i have to clone is already halfway into flowering but the lest mature stuff..and my clones are very tiny...thumlength at the most

naked gardener - This is a sign you will be rooting very shortly, my last batch of clones i messed up bad, drowned them in juicy gel relized my problem and recut all the steams because of steam rot, 10 days after recut everything is looking pale, yellow, browning and dieing, but suprise suprise lifted steam out and there are about 10 roots beging on each steam. They''ll be growin new roots getting rid of those old yellow leaves and starting to grow shortly. Funny thing is the worst ones are rooting the best. Ive got a brand new batch of clones ready this time but i was suprised after all the stress and recut the clones still man it

In my experiences I have found you should take cuttings that are at least 4 inches long, cut just below a node and while they are still in the veg cycle not after they have been flowering. I have also found that if you use a heat mat it will keep the rockwool cubes warm or even if you have a sprayer type cloner keeping the water warm helps alot. The sprayer type cloner will start showing roots in about 7 days, rockwool cubes will take longer for the roots to show through the cubes.

I Ph the water to 5.5 use the heat mat and I also use Rhizotonic which is a root stimulator, I have had 99% success since starting to do this, before this my success rate was 10-20%, also I have found using the spray time cloner worked best, if you look on the net you can find some that are not too expensive from some people that make they're own. I think the heat mat is the key.......hope this helped.

Thanks smokedup12 for giving me hope--I'm letting rockwool dry more between watering--misting a little less, but w a slightly higher N content--they are still standing and now appear to be greening back up a bit--still no roots showing. I have a little bottle of superthrive--never used it before--I know it is supposed to be a great tonic for stressed plants--but I don't know about cuttings that are rooting--they were cut 10 & 11 days ago...I think they'll be okay, I just hope this stress doesn't affect their overall health, strength and vigor...they came from some good strong beauties--

I should have asked this before but did u flush your mothers with water before u cut? Another mistake i made when cutting clones was giving food to my mothers a day or two before cuttings, making them last 2-3 weeks before even thinking of making roots. Thing is N is something u don’t want in your clones actually blocks roots from growing, basically how i understand it is if the clone already has food there is no need to look for food. You want them to starve and look for food with roots, once they have roots they need to eat.

this is why the best time for cuting clones is in the 1st 3 weeks in flower, you do not want the nitregon stored in the plants b4 cloning.
