Default 10.11.09 update
So a bunch has happened, both good and bad. Two of my clones are doing pretty ok (thanks to ZENMANSTER ) if i take either of them out of their bags they dry up FAST though.

My roomates BITCH OF A CAT got in my veg closet and laid on my plants under the light so I spent the better part of my morning cleaning, straightening them up and attempting to do some LST (what do you think of my first try?)

I know its a little to early but what do you guys think about yield? There will be 4 plants of each strain going into flowering sooooooo do you think I can get away with 2 ozs per plant?

My plants aren't as GREEN and shiny as most of other peoples pictures, anyone have any suggestions? they get plenty of nitrogen in their nutes.

Fred LOOKS LIKE SHIT I know I know..... im doing everything I can, hopefully the damage will level out here soon.

dude the first time I ever smoked I had a good friend help me pick out some good weed (he made me spend a lot of dough though). I bought a half ounce of Northern Lights and binge smoked all of that shit for 4 days straight and have been seriously in love with weed ever since (and obviously NL hold a special place) Im jealous of you though! Canada is the new mecca of potency and gorgeous cannabis.

p.s. HERE IS THE BITCH THAT TRIED TO FUCK WITH MY PLANTS (with an especially bitch look on her face)

hey man get you a cup put, some holes in the bottom, fill it with the dirt mix you are using to grow right now, put your clone in it, water it with regular water, put it under your lights and "Go Speed Racer Go".LOL. naw man, i figure you already know that much. just wanted to remind you that sometimes less is more.

P.S. i hope i have some success with these rapid rooters, i'll keep track in my next journal.

I took 5 clones and 2 of them are alive. One is in the hydro thing and the other is in plain soil. thanks dude, I was gonna kill them all the way I was going

Clones looking good mate (especially compared to my clones at the mo), not sure about Fred though....

With the LST I would suggest topping them first (or fimming) then you get extra main branches then LST these, and you will have a big fat bushy affair going on with loads of bud sites......(I have only done it to my last grow so can't tell if you have done it too early or not...) Good luck with it.

that's awesome man. but which ones died. were they in the hydro thing or in soil? just curious. hey your plants look great. man don't worry about them being shiny right now, they are still young. and i do believe that, i'm not sure, but i think it might depend a little on the strain. i don't know. but hey as long as it's some excellent smoke i don't care. you know what i mean. sorry but i'm probably the last person to try to give pointers about LTSing and FIMming. looks like fred has a few new leaves sprouting out.

Fred has bud sites! I swear these weren't here before the lights went out yesterday. I raised the light up to around 33 inches cause I dont want to be burning those things

ok I know it is wrong to feed rumors but I have found tid bits here and there around the internet that say that HPS isnt better than MH just different. Because MH puts out UV and that is really good for trichome production, so HPS may give bigger buds but they arent as "ripe" or well developed as MH. I am currently researching this and would appreciate any info if someone has it.

good thing I got a switchable ballast though

first off, congrats on fred!!!

hey dude if you want to know how far to have your light from your plant, just put your hand under the light, palm down. raise it closer to the light when you get to point where your hand is close enough to the light where you could possibly leave it there all day, then that is how close you can lower the light above the plant. in other words if it's too hot for you, then it's too hot for the plant.

now as far as the mh vs. hps debate, i have grown crops from veg to flower with hps and had very good results, but since i was able to get the lights i wanted, now i veg with mh, and flower with hps. let's remember the natural progression of the seasons.when you plant in the spring that is the vegetative part of the life cycle, and the sun is emitting more of a white/blue light(MH), which has a kelvin color of 5000K-6500K and up. that is optimal lighting for growth. now as the summer ends and the fall begins the color of the sun is emitting a more orange/red light(HPS) which generally has a kelvin color of 2200K-2400K(i believe) which is optimal for flowering because that is what blooms, fattens, and ripens those buds, and has them compact, tight, and hard. hey if you already know this then just bare with me.

Now you can veg and flower with a MH light, and this is what i have actually seen with my own eyes, but your buds are more than likely going to be fluffy, airy, not compact at all, a lower yield(wet and especially dried) and we don't want that right. well my two friends that started that way swore i was using some additive to make my buds tighter, and fatter in comparison, were content with what they got from it, and always raved about their yeilds. until they got a hps. and i'll bet you that most of the people that are saying that mh light is the way to go from start to end, probaly haven't even used a hps to flower. and i say that because everyone i know that tried it with an hps, never went back. wow this is pretty long, sorry dude. but as i was saying, earlier i am trying to mimic nature, not tweek it, but that's just me ok. so i'm gonna go, but before i leave i just want to say you can try it if you like, but in "MY OPINION" i think you might be dissapointed, and on the flip side it may be the shit for you.

PEACE!!!

Are you spraying/misting them with the lights on?

The tips look like maybe the beginning of nute burn? Or it could be cause of burn from the droplets of water being on the tips of the leaves with the lights on (that's if you are spraying/misting them)

Burn on!
