Default Air Pump

So i have a little plant growing in my room right now, im just trying to get the grow room set up..but i was wondering.

If i got an air pump like a aerator from a fish tank, and put it in the soil towards the bottom, would the roots like that?

I Think the problem you are going to run into is your going to have to water the plants that much more. That does not mean your plant will be eating more, the solutition will be evaporating. Solution that evaporates will leave a build up of desolved solids in your soil. This will most likely become toxic.

I don't know either, but assume it would just be a waste of power or else it would probably be more common.

That's what i was thinking too, because the water will evaporate more quickly... but who knows?

Yes roots like o2 but they need so much more. It's like a car, the engine needs o2 to run but if I put bad gas in the tank it does not matter how much o2 it gets. Thats just my thoughts though. Try it and let us know.

Well its my first grow...so id like to know a little more before i could potentially kill my plant..

i don't think it would kill your plant. but i also don't think it would do any good as the air would have a hard time moving through a dense medium such as soil.
