Its getting quite dence in my tent. i removed some of the leaves that are looking a bit passed it most of them were on the lower parts of the plants im thinking that i should remove some of the bigger fan leaves to let some light get down to the buds lower down. they are on there 4th week of flower and i think there lookin ok.Would that be ok to do that ?

I did... I'm about 2-3 weeks into flowering and I trimmed her down so I'd say go for it - just don't overdo it. I kept at least one fan leaf per node / branch.

Sure you can take off leaves to open the canopy, like vervejunkie said, Just don't over do it.

Never remove leaves... unless they are dead.. or it is essential for air flow (mold issues).. those leaves are THE LIFE SOURCE.. photosynthisis..
iloveyou if you are trying to get light to the lower branches, 1. use side lighting 2. next time flower you plant when it is shorter.. iloveyou |

I would ted to disagree with you Garden Knowm, once in flower the plant doesn't need as much vegitation for photosynthisis, in flower the plant needs the energy for bud production and a whole lot of extra vegitation takes away from that energy. Now I didn't say to take it all away, just enough to open the canopy a little.
Learned this from many years of growing.

I remember reading somewhere that the leaves actually turn yellow late in flowering when the plant finds that they are taking more energy to maintain than the energy they are providing to the buds... we have all seen this...
I totally agree with your theory DANK "once in flower the plant doesn't need as much vegitation for photosynthisis, in flower the plant needs the energy for bud production and a whole lot of extra vegitation takes away from that energy." , ... From my experience or shall i say my habit. ..... : ) ..... I have always trusted the plant will make the right choice... meaning that once the leaf costs more energy than it is producing the plant loose the excess bagage.. cheers and nice to have you around DANK : ) |

it is true that the plants need more energy for bud production, but in order to convert the starches into sugars it needs to absorb light. and the little sugar leaves that protrude from the bud matter are not adequate for optimal light absorption. i have to go with Knowm on this one
