I'm a first time grower and was hoping someone could help me through the process with tips and pointers. So basically i have closet that is 3Lx3Wx8Hish feet tall. Im using an aero garden space savor six. I recently germinated a white widow seed i got online(hopefully female). i have my ph right around or a little under 6.0. I covered up 5 of the six pods with duct tape to keep out the light. im using the other pod to grow my 1 plant. I took the seed out of the pods they give u and put my germaneted seed(root down), put it in the ag and put the dome over it. my lighting for the seedling stage im just gonna stick with the grow deluxe bulb it comes with. The time cycle im using is 21 on 3 off. Once i reach the veg stage im planing on using my 400w mh light. I just bought a 400w digital mh/hps ballast and mogul base to get the bulbs i have runnin. once i get to flowering im going to switch to 400w hps bulb. today was the seeds first day in the ag after a 3 or 4 day germinating stage. i put a starter nute tab in that the package came with then im not going to use any more till veg stage. Ill keep you posted with pictures and any help or tips would be much appreciated.

hell yea fox. good to see you over here. its day 2 nothing really changed as i expected. quick question though. I read somewhere that when the roots start to come through i should turn off my air pump to prevent root rot. is that true? ill add some pics too so you guys can see the setup.

day three now and a little leave is starting to come up. fuck yea

When the roots are well established in your res, then you turn off you water pump, not the air pump. If your AG doesn't have a water pump, then you don't have to worry about it.

start of day 4, realized my camera is out of battery and my charger is back home. I did take a pic with my phone not that good of quality but u can still see the plant.(took the dome off to take the picture, but its getting close to keeping it off) and fox, how do i turn of the water filter, im pretty sure there is one on the ag i have. and do i keep it off the rest of the time the plants growing or do i turn it back on.

As long as you have the lights hooked up seperately, you can just unplug the AG itself.

I am on my second aerogarden grow. I have the 6 pod one with dual lights and a airstone in the center. I learned alot from messing up my first grow. I have a few pointers for you.

1)I wouldn't use the AG nutes, get some hydro nutes like, fox farm, general hydroponics etc.

2)Only use water for the first few days, if you added that AG nute for starters I would empty the AG and put fresh water in. when you see them get past the clear covers on the AG, remove the covers and let them grow for 1 to 2 days then you can add nutes at 1/3 strength.

3)Get a airpump, is a must in the AG, root rot is real easy to get. I have a dual pump with 2 long airstones. I also run cannazyme in mine and 1/4 cup hydrogen peroixide 3% you can get from any store. I had root rot on 1 and killed my plant and you don't want all that crud in there with only a 1 gallon res.

4)Put the lights as close to the plants as you can get, I even have mine at a few weeks old almost touching the lights. It is good to add a couple CFLS to the sides too. I add 3 23 watt 6500k cfls in reflectors and makes the plants grow alot better and get bushy.

5)Fill your AG so that the water is touching the bottom of the AG pod, when the plant starts getting long roots you can back off a little and go just below the pod. I tend to keep mine just touching the pod, when they start growing I have had to add a 1/4 to 1/2 gallon a day in the AG.

6)I wouldn't mist your plants either, I did that and my fan leaves were the size of my hand.

7)Get a small fan, have it blow at the plants all the time, it will make them get a strong stalk and get good fresh air.

This is a big one, my stalk became larger than my AG pod, the plastic was all entangled in the roots and the roots were being strangled by the plastic on the pod. I had to cut my roots out and was hard and stunned the plants. If your doing hid later, I would cut out some out the plastic side pieces on the pods and later when the plant gets larger you are going to want to move it to a 3 to 5 gallon bucket. The roots get crazy.

Good Luck! My first grow is about 9 weeks total, going on 5 weeks in 12/12 from bag seed.
