I appreciate you coming out. I do take exception to the use of the word “pigs” though.

I’ll have to give you some background; I am the head contact to the “powers that be” for Hempfest. I, in my twenties, used the word “pigs” frequently. I have, in my tenure at Hempfest, met many of our cities police. In fact, I spent the last few days working out details with them and working with them. It has changed my attitude completely.

They are not fascists. They are real people. They are good people. They were amongst the most helpful and caring people that I worked with during the fest. They conscientiously helped us maintain peace and order at the event.

The directions given BY the police to their field officers were basically “We are here to keep the attendees of the event safe. You will work in a ‘target rich’ environment. This does not mean that our mission is to rack up arrests. Our mission is not to stop the personal use of cannabis. Our mission is to ensure that everyone remains safe and the event remains open.” Talk about super cool. These guys were there to protect and serve. They were very cool too. They hung out with us, the officers of the organization and shot the shit and troubleshot. While I was talking to one of the ranking officials, someone was booked. He looked embarrassed. He assured us that if someone was being arrested that they did something that an arrest was appropriate. We assured him that it was okay because we trusted them. It turns out, dude was asking to be arrested and not even mildly.

We have the best police force on earth. They are cool and they are real people. They are helpful and courteous and funny. Several times we heard “Hey, I used to party.” Please don’t call these helpful and necessary people “pigs”. They are not our enemy. The laws are our enemy. Most of the cops, in fact, every cop I talked to agrees. They are put in a bad situation because of the laws. They don’t want to arrest stoners. In my experience, they would rather hang out with us. Also, during our “tiff” with SAM, the police were steadfast supporters during the permit negotiations. They love us.

If you are paranoid by a cop boat at Hempfest, it is understandable but unnecessary. The world is changing. Let it.

Dude in Australia, cops just love arresting stoner's. They get the whole grin on the face and everything. You guys are lucky.

Thanks for the reply...I will agree that Seattle police have
to be some of the most liberal.

I mention the boat because before they came over, everyone
was smoking on the rocks. They noticed ourselves smoking
with out of a steam roller, and immediately came closer bearing
binoculars and an unsettling presence. They would not leave,
but rather sat and monitored.

Other than that, it was fuggin awesome...

I'v been to alot of places with cool cops... but unfortunatly in NYC cops love aresting stoners... especialy if your under 18... because than they send you to central bookings and like to try and scare you by saying your going to be their for 2 weeks and theres big black people lol... They really used to break my balls... the same cops would serch me 2 or 3 times a week... most of the time on my property... and than after awile they like kindof became cool... once I turned 18... 2 years of them being ass holes all day... than I started fucking with tthem and they started being like dickheads but kinda cool... once I had a ounce sitting on the table out back and I was reading the bible ... he saw it and was like ohhhh... but than he saw what I was reading and left told me to have a good night... lol

Hey I went to Hempfest BOTH days and I saw that exact same paraglider person from the boat haha. The first day there was no cops, I was smokin 2 blunts walkin down the sidewalk inside. The 2nd day there was LOTS of cops, and I mean LOTS. One of them actualy made a guy throw his bong in the water because he was takin a fat rip on the lawn listening to the speakers. Everyone was booing the cop it was really funny, fuck that asshole.

Oh and Im sorry but youll never convice me that cops arent assholes.. Ive experienced nice cops before but most are fucking nazi piece of shit fat fagget ass bitches Im sorry. Hear some stories from my friends and ask me if you want any stories and youll see me position. Unnecesarily pulling a gun on you, searching, harassing, being plain old assholes.. Yeah youll NEVER EVER convince me that cops arent assholes Im sorry. I see where youre coming from and I dont doubt those cops are cool, but 99% of them are nazis. Im sure lots of people agree.
