I have a heat problem also. I got 25ft. of flexible ducting and ran it from my central air vent in the other room to the back of a fan sucking the cold air and blowing it right on the grow area. This lowered my temps like 10 degrees. I got the duct tube at menards for cheap. Just a suggestion.

i did the same with my mh lamp. follow what these guys said, i'd say at least a foot between canopy and the lamp if you still have babies, bring it a little closer if you want when they get bigger. no need though i say cos ur plants just get bigger quickly with an mh so the distance is always decreasing. when i used the mh in the beginning, the temps were pretty high too but the distance was good enough that they did ok. as long as it isnt too high and u have co2, u should be fine. gl
