This past harvest, I hung my buds for three days and then transferred it all to mason jars (approx. 3 oz. of high quality Ogre strain).
Over the 4th of july holiday, I got lazy (or too high) and forgot to take it out of the jar and re-hang .. so instead of curing properly, they ended up being so moist inside the jars still, that they molded up pretty badly with white mold.
I have read some tips about fixing moldy bud ..some say freeze it after being out in open air for a while. ..some say give up and throw it out.. It definately looks crappy to me...
What i did this morning to try and stop the problem was cut the buds into smaller pieces and off of the main stems and layed it all out in a sunny room with an overhead fan blowing on all the buds for about 10 hours. Now it is mostly crisp and dry and some of the mold has gone away.
It all smells really gross (like when you buy a bag of moldy bud!) and I'm wondering if I should take the other poster's advise and put it in the freezer for a few hours and then back into the open room , or is there any way to rid my beautiful green buds of this terrible mold?

As sad as it is to say, throw that shit away.

It's a potential health hazard and will smoke like ass.

yeah after carefully sorting through it all this evening, I was able to determine that about half of the stuff hadn't gotten moldy but about 3 zips did.
Is it even worth trying to throw the bad portion in the freezer at all, or just bail on it altogether.
Hopefully the other good half still smokes and tastes good.

Lesson learned. don't get lazy during the curing process.

i promise you won't be sorry, as the end result will be dank, potent, and delicious...if you do it right the shit will bubble and is as good if not better than most hash out there...i've also heard of folks doing this with moldy buds with no problems and the end product was still phenomenal...hope this helps....

my norm is 3 days hangin on hangers in a seperate dark cool closet. then one day in a closed jar and back to hanging for one day and then alternate between hanging and closed in a jar for a total of 12 days after harvest.


This time I hung for three days and then I went to a closed mason jar for 2 days. . this is where I lazed out.
I just opened the jar for 1 day and then closed it back up for 3 days (oops) over the holiday because I couldn't attend to it right. I usually go 1 day open/ one day closed/ one day open/ one day closed. then cut it down to 8 hrs/ 8hrs. until the entire 10-12 days has gone by and it usually comes out super potent and awesome!
this is my first bad loss besides dealing with spider mites a couple years ago.

Sucks man, real sorry to hear that, sounds like you jared to early and then forgot about it, thats a big risk and this pic says how i feel, leason learned for next time.

just don't throw it away!!!!!!!
