Sativa is taller, starts earlier

mmmh... i would sign that indica grows short and bushy with fat leaves and it need less time to flower till finish and sativa is the opposite to that but this... no.

How long does it take to bud after it has started flowering

"Bud" means the action of flowering or can mean the flowers themselves. So the question doesn't really make any sense.

If you mean how long after putting them into 12/12 do you see the first buds, anywhere between 6 and 21 days depending on the strain and how old the plant is.
