I dunno what to say to this. Disagreements with forum moderators are commonplace. You'll never find a forum without at least one heavy-handed moderator who doesn't really handle things the way we maybe think he should, but I can't see how that would be indicative of this sort of evil machination as you suggest. The fact that RIU has been around so long seems to further reinforce my stance as it wouldn't take long for word to get around and court transcripts would be made available as people went to trial for organizations such as NORML and other cannabis-friendly groups to point to and warn us about. I haven't seen any corroborating data to validate this claim at all and until I do, I don't believe it. Maybe that's because I don't want to but it stands to reason that I would already be in jail if this was true.

I appreciate your support in the other now-closed thread. Working towards improving the forums is a noble cause, even if we disagree on how to do that but I think this is taking it a little bit too far.

Hey I'd like to take a peak at some of those if you can dig them up. I have some concerns that maybe I am more open than I should be on the internets so I'd really like to see how some of those people got busted.

Again, no offense Merlin11. I don't think it's right for people to ridicule you but on the same token, you should post some evidence validating this claim if there is any or else it just isn't productive at all. We really shouldn't abandon reason and common sense when it comes to leveling such an allegation against someone else and I think in this case the accusation is pretty serious.

For what it's worth, I don't have any beef with fdd or Chiceh. I didn't like the way they seemed intent on defending what I perceived as a misdeed on the part of a chat moderator, or a comment which I interpreted as an attempt to lend credence to a misinterpretation of a remark I made about rednecks and nascar drivers, but aside from that I haven't had any problems with either of them. I had never come into contact with fdd before then that I can remember and Chiceh was always pretty friendly in IRC.

If you have problems with something a mod has done you should try and address it with rational discussion, being careful not to allow yourself to lose control. Losing control and calling names and/or making wild accusations means everybody loses.

My losing control in IRC and insulting someone else - albeit, a troll - was exactly what precipitated my ban from IRC, no matter how unfair it seems because other parties were left untouched, even though some of them were being just as nasty.

I'm speaking from experience because I can't even count how many forums I have been banned from due to a heated discussion where I just went overboard so take my advice. If they ban you wrongfully when you're attempting to be reasonable, then that's their problem but always try and stay in control.
