Okay i have researched growing for a few months and my friend got me some feminized white widow seeds. i germinated 3 and all were successful, one particular plant is about 2 1/2 inches tall and has its "starting leaves" and its first two single blade serated leaves. i have them under a flourescent tube light for now. Is it normal for the plant to be this tall? any tips on widows?

Might not be getting enough light. Have you grown anything before this? How close are your bulbs?

yea the bulbs are about 1/2 from the plant

Shylas sounds right. It sounds like a lighting issue. Your lights (with florescent) should about 2" above the plants. If is is only one plant, it might be just the genetics, but it sounds very unusual. If your lights are just about 2" above, can you add in any cfls for more light?

I think they say you need 75watts or more per plant, so you might just need more light, or you planted too shallow. I just bought 5 widow seeds from nirvana that have gotten there threes already and there about as tall as yours. I practiced on bag seed before i spent the big bucks

you left out how old they were? this is ok height. you really wont have any real problems at this stage if you keep things simple. it could just be a fast grower, it might not be getting enough light(whats your wattage? ill bet your light is fine tho) or it could just be a male. its hard to tell anything with the babies

edit: solution: when you transplant you could bury the plant about half way or all the way up to the leafs

Try adding more lights if you can, 1/2" is a little close you might burn the plants, just keep a really close eye on them.

Could just be the dominant one, sometimes happens, the rest can catch up, id not worry you could always tie it back or bend it over at the top.

i do have more lights but i have to be careful because its a stealth grow. im growing in a footlocker in my room. the trouble is that a little bit of light leaks

1/2 what? foot? inches? should be about 2 or 3 inches from the top of the plant.

how long have they been going, when did they pop outta the soil?

edit: not quite sure how but ten minutes passed between me reading the three posts there were and clicking reply... so good to be back on the herb.
