I'm doing a test run on my Lowryder x AK-47 autoflowering strain so I just planted one seed. I'm going to see how it does and I plan to start my real crop in late August, around the time when this little gal is finishing up. My Lowryder x AK seeds are all feminized but I'm going to get 10 regular seeds, thinking about The Joint Doctor's Diesel Ryder, and then I would start those with my remaining femed Lowryder x AK seeds in late August. I was thinking that way I could keep the best male Diesel Ryder and pollinate one of the Diesel Ryder gals and one of the Lowryder x AK gals. That would give me enough seeds to last a while. Diesel Ryder looks pretty damn nice and I'v heard nothing but good things about it. Does my breeding idea sound like its worth a go? I have done a seed run before but this is my first time growing/breeding autoflowering plants. Last edited by nuggetgrower; 07-03-2009 at 10:28 AM.. |

Day 15 - 17 A couple of days ago, I lift the humidity dome to check on the baby, to see how moist the soil was, etc, and I found that the little seed shell that was still stuck on one of the leaves, was generating some kind of fungus mold. This is obviosly because of the high humidity inide the dome, so after removing the moldy seed shell, I rised the dome with a little stone, in order to allow the air to circulate a little into the dome. Its alright now! ![]() Now's day 17, and Im ready to transplant the baby into a bigger pot. Posibly the last pot she'll be into. But as I said, Im kinda buisy, so I'll hopefully get to it this weekend. ![]() I think this one's from a little bit before it got the fungus... How's everybody's plants doing, people? Good Luck! toocoolo It looks like that plant is stretching a lot. Any new pics? Did you get her in the new pot?
Do you have any experience breeding auto strains? My plant is up and doing nicely but I'd be interested to check your progress. Last edited by nuggetgrower; 07-15-2009 at 10:07 AM.. |

That plant sure does look stretchy for 17 days old. What sort of light are you using? I am new to the autoflowering seeds myself, but there is a great article in the High Times Aug. 09' issue. Gets straight to the point!!!

Yes, it was getting too long!
Sorry for my absense, I've got a lot of work. In simple terms: plants that flower soon and without any light modification needed. Quote:

I have experience breeding from seeds, but not from auto-flower. I planted one from the same package earlier, but it turned out big and healthy. Im sure it was the wrong seed or a recesive gen or something; I've seen other cases round here... The light I'm using is the king Sun himself. This is all outdoors. I'll be back! Cheers! Toocoolo |

Sorry again about my absence. I've really been very bussy with work. Luckily my girl has got enough free time to take care of the baby Low Ryder.
As I said on my previous post, last week on day 22, the baby plant got changed to a bigger pot. Here's some pics and descripitions about how we did it: so... DAY 22 (@ day 30) On day 22 the plant is big enough to be transplanted to the bigger and final pot. We know this because of the size of the plant, and because it has more than 4 tiny leaves in 3 levels. Usually I transplant it earlier, as soon as the 2nd level of leaves arrive, but as I said, I've been too damn absent. ![]() To the moving of the baby we'll need: -Bigger pot: I choosed this clay pot, cause I've heard clay's always better than plastic, better for soil transpiration, temperature and drenage. And also cause is the only pot I got left in my tiny garden. -Soil: I use the same soil I used for germination: Bio Bizz Light Mix, but you can use your favourite mix. - Water Its quite easy to do this. Some people recomend to do transplants at night, to reduce plant stress. We didn't do it this time, but maybe you'd want to. ![]() Fill the new pot almost to the top with the soil, and make a tiny cavity on top, about the size of the yoghurt pot the baby is in. ![]() So here's when that used yoghurt cup will come handy to the transplantation. First I shower the baby a little with water, and let it rest for up to an hour to let the soil absorb the water and make it compact and solid. Then we simply crack open the yoghurt cup and carefully place it in the cavity of the new pot. ![]() Cover it up with soil, using your hands and pressing a little. ![]() ![]() Shower the baby. Sing her a lullaby, and let it be... ![]() Yay! Thats about it. From here, we'll just have to make sure she's got enough water, overall being this a hot town-summer in the city. My bigger plants are needing up to 2 showers a day, but this being a baby will need a bit less. We just have to be sure the dirt is moisted, but not damp. If the transplant was well done (and there's not many reasons why it wouldn't be), your baby plant will start growing like a maniac the following days. Here's a picture of how she looked a couple of days after transplant: ![]() So that's that. Today's day 30, and she's looking fine and dandy. Let me know how's your plant going, and if I can help in any way I would be glad to. Cheers! Happy tokes! TooCoolo |

Day 35
Baby LR2 is growing. It does look a little like a Bonsai plant! She's doing fine, expetf that I see some THRYP activity going on her leaves. I've struggled a lot with those damn bugs in the past. Growing outdoors, close to a big park (Parc Güell that is) and with a lot of other plants on my garden, from ornamental flowers to Jalapeño and Roses, Thryps are a recurrent pain in the ass... ![]() So far, I think the best method I got to fight them, is NEEM OIL, commonly found at grow shops and gardening shops. Its a concentrated oil that diluted on water and sprayed on the leaves, keeps the thrips and other bugs away. My bigger plants are now strugling with budworms, which are the larvae of tiny butterflies and moths, but thats another story. So here she is, 13cm tall... ![]() Happy weekend! TooCoolo |
