damn that diagram has a capacitor in it i don have one just a ballast socket and ignitor i dont have very much knowledge when it comes to electricity!
you have to have one of them.your local hard ware store or lighting store willhave them in stock. all my ballast have a cap
it wont work without a capacitor? does the capacitor replace the ignitor because that diagram doesnt show the ignitor in it
does yours have a ignighter in it. look at the 1sr pic i gave you it has both ways of hooking it up its right their in a diagram. mh and hps hook up the same way.
i was looking at the picture mine doesnt have a capacitor it has an ignitor ballast and socket the only difference i see is my ballast has 2 common wires on it the hps one in the pic doesnt have any white wires comin out of it

Metal halide has a capacitor.
HPS has a capacitor and an ignitor.
if you have an old light with an ignitor in it, then you have a hps that the capacitor has been removed.
It is very simple, both of my lights are old MH lights that i took out of a shop.
when i'm out there again i will look at mine and takea picture of how everything should look.
Be careful with that light dude. those bulbs will pull all the power allowed to them, and trip your breaker or explode and set something on fire.
The things I do hard are drink, smoke, work, and think;other than that, i just take it easy.
