Best Plant Number for 8ftx8ftx8ft flowering room

Hi all,

I was seeking some advice to best utilize my 8ftx8ftx8ft flowering room which is a walk in closet. Plant number is somewhat of a concern not looking to go over 12-15.

My questions, however, is if i have 2x1000 watt hps for my room, do you think i would be better off vegging 8 or so plants for a longer time and then flowering them so i have 8 or so monster plants, or do you think i should flower about 16 at a time but not vegg as long. Obvioulsy going for maximum yield, i am just trying to figure out which technique will work best for me for my first grow. If anyone has any advice from their experience all advice is appreciated. Thanks all

too much light for so few plans imo.. Sure make trees to keep the number down. But then you have to wait awhile before harvest but it will be huge..

Hey sow217, I have the same size room and light setup with cool tubes. I'm also interested in what everyone else has to say. I was in a rush to finish the room as my girls in veg were outgrowing their space. 11 girls in 2nd week of flower now and it's really not enough space! A bit crowded in there and not easy to move through them. From my experience so far, it seems like growing fewer big plants is the way to go.

It will probably take me a run or two before I get the room dialed. The lack of funds to finish it up properly has forced me to be a little creative with venting and stuff. Luckily, I have a friend I was able to borrow most of the equipment from. thanks friend! Now if only he had a mini-split ac!

I can try to help you out however I can. I'm still pretty new at growing (6 months) but i've done tons of research as i'm soooo addicted! Figured I'd try to help a fellow grower out if possible so feel free to ask any questions. Here's a pic of my room about a week ago (They're much bigger now!). I'd like to add 2 more 1k lights or switch over to 6 600w lights. Still not sure, just seeing how things go.

I currently have a separate veg room [4x6x8] and on a 2.5 month cycle. Girls get to veg for 9-10 weeks from cuttings so they'll have plenty of time to get nice and bushy!

I'll start a journal at some point when I have some more time. Till then, it's gonna be great following along with ya!

Thanks for the reply Easy.. How are you venting your room and keeping temps and odor under control. We planned on also vegging for 1.5 to 2 months and then flowering. We also have a seperate vegging cabinet. But may not have enough room to do 10 in the cab at a time in order to do a perpetual cycle so we may have to cycle less at a time and come up with something else. I def would love to know what strains you are doing and what ur harvest ends up being. I def will subscribed and will be following a long. Keep in touch and Good luck:joint:

Dude, sky is the limit if you have 2x1000w systems, and an 8 sq ft space to grow in. I was originally going to use a 12x12 area, but im changing my setup to go Aero-perpetual, and an 8x8 room is perfect for that. You could do up like 50 plants if you wanted to, full size, and get away with using 2x1000w systems. Checkout StinkBud's Aeroponic Perpetual Harvest man. His DIY Aero systems are genius, and theyre cheap as hell to make too. Set up 3 of his ponic systems for flower, n one more for veg, and you can harvest an lb every three weeks dude. All you'd need to pick up extra from what you have now, is another 250-400w system, for vegging, and cloning. No need for mother plants with his setup. Just somethin to think on man :D

N Pleasie, i LOVE the astro-foil on the walls dude. your setup looks very well thought out, n im diggin the hell out of it. +rep to u, n +rep to sow for havin the Cojones to go big. It takes steel nerves to go big if your not legal, so mad props to you dude.

I got my first 2 clones from my buddy about 6 months ago and that started the whole addiction for me. I was told it was Matanuska Tundra but that's not certain. Since I didn't know what I was growing, I decided to do experiments with veg and flower times. What i've learned so far is to let them get big and then flower. My first two girls produced 6.5 ounces dry! These bitches are unbelievably smelly! fruity with a really nice stone. Better than anything i've been able to buy locally. Stoked that I don't have to buy my medicine again and i'm really digging the gardening :). I suffer from insomnia and back pain so it really helps.

The only strain i'm certain of is OG Kush. I was lucky to get a cutting from the same friend a couple months back. Really looking forward to that harvest!

I have some unknown sativas that is getting way too big! Also, another unknown bag seed strain.

For ventilation, i'm pushing air through the tubes with a 435 cfm fan. It recirculates the air that is in the attic through the tubes. I also have an existing attic fan that removes the hot air from the attic - set on a thermostat. Without that attic fan, it would get way too hot in the attic and my central air wouldn't be able to cool the house.

I exhaust hot air into the attic with a 415 cfm fan. It's on a fan controller so I have more flexibility. It usually only runs at about half speed. I use two 6" passive intakes with backdraft dampers to keep air from escaping. The adjacent space to the flower room is where it's pulling in cool air. I ran a new a/c vent to the space - about 2.5x8x8. This is where I keep my chiller, reservoir, ballasts and supplies. My used Can 50 needs the charcoal replaced so I'm not using a filter right now. I'll need to get one soon as they will start to get stinky in the next week or so. My temps range from 78-82 during daylight hours. I could get it cooler but that would mean a much higher electric bill. I'm in the process of insulating the house better and making things more efficient before I try to lower the thermostat. I'm really trying to get it setup for Co2 but i've got to make a few modifications first. Oh, and a dedicated AC.

I think my next cycle will be with only 4 or 6 girls. I wanna do a tree run but may need some more light if I want to get a bigger yield. But none of that is happening till I get a mini-split system.

I'm dying to try a vertical scrog with a bunch of plants, flowering with only a week or two of veg time. But that many plants is more than i'm willing to risk. It's nerve racking enough with the numbers I have now.

Hope that helps a little. Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing. Best thing is to just try it out for yourself. You'll read a ton of different ways to grow but the best way is what works best for you.
