Default imp cfl lights question
why is it recommended when using compact fluorescents that you use a higher degree temperature, like 5000k, for the vegetative stage

and then using lower degree, such as 2500k, for the flowering stage, is it ok to use the veg stage lights because their a lot brighter and i think it would be best to use those type of lights for the whole grow, thanks guys

If you are using cfls, use 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower. These bulbs are the IDEAL temperature range for mj: 6500k mimics the long days of summer and helps promote healthy stem development and foliage. 2700k mimics the shorter days of fall and the plants use this spectrum range for flower development.

You can mix and match these color ranges if you like; I use mostly 6500k for veg, but also have a couple small 2700k with it. And likewise, for flower, I use primarily 2700k, but i still have a couple small 6500k mixed in.

Ye dsyou can use any color spectrum all the way through but its better to change because the colors reprsent the sun and different poingt of the season when the sun moves away from the earth the color comes close to 2700K which helps all plants on earth to trigger flowering to reproduce so they survive over the winter by reproducing so ther really shoulnt be aproblem using one color temp all the way through as long as you have the 18/6 and 12/12 but i woudl recommend switching lighting i never did it under one color so i dont know how well it owuld tun out but plnat respond to light cycles so it shoudlnt be a problem just the end porduct might not be terrific
