You got 5 days to clean up anything that looks suspicious, box up any lights or anything. They can only search the apartment, they have absolutely No Rights to open anything thats yours, like boxes, dressers, anything. They can only search stuff that is part of the apartment, so if its in a cardboard box they can be as suspicious as they want but its not like they can stand there and demand you open the box....


Man I had a landlord come over to inspect with a realestate agent, he was here for like 30 minutes. I had 2 rubermaid buckets sitting beside me, one had 2 plants, one had 2 pounds of weed curing in it. They were stacked on top of eachother in the livingroom....and they were covering the hole in the wall where I ran ducting...Hahahaha.

Long story short, they cant touch your shit. They can ask you to open the closet if they are assholes but if they open the closet and your stuff is in boxes they cant touch any of it.

Know your rights, and Use them.

ya, i had the same thing happen to me, they said they were inspecting some of the apartments i was stayin at, and my plants werent very big, about the same size as urs, maybe a little bigger, i had to go in the middle of the nite, stealth like to my car which was about 50 yards away. let a buddy house them for the day , come to find out, they only checked 2 apartments and left...u understand how pissed i was. lol to move ALL that shit, my whole setup to somewhere else. it was pretty gay. but....i just dont take risks

Man I grew up with the bacons. 2 years ago it would have been some of my closest friends getting murdered....thankfully they got out of that shit when they did.

Cops wouldnt really care too much about 1 plant though.. Worst case scenario they take it away.

Keep your closet all the way cloesed turn off any vents or fans in their. All they really do for a building inspection is check for a fire alarm in each bedroom. Extingushers if required. Make your room a mess throw cloths around on the floor so its difficult to naviagate. Just make sure theres enough room to step in and see the alarm. Chances are he won't come to your apartment anyways.Unless the plants are visable or the odour intense, their just worried about getting the inspection done quick and the report written. I use to do inspections for Section 8 (state funded housing ) unless you listed specific complaints theres nothing to worry about. They do have a check list and marijuana closet grows isn't on there Better to be thought of as a slob then a cultivator.
PS make sure the alarms all work with good batteries. If ya don't have one readily visable in that room go spend 10 bucks get one stuck above your door. Otherwise he may want to peak around for one since they are required by law. Last but not least you could always be one of those tenets that wasn't home or were in the shower when they knocked. If theres a few apartments the inspector will find someone whos not half naked in a towel to go check.
