Anyone play music to their plants? If so what type and for how long.

i dont.. dont see how it would be beneficial at all... i know that talking to your plants and singing to them yourself works as the eat up ur c02... im not expert but thats my 2 cents!

I have seen it work, but only with classical. I would Imagine that instermental (like some soft Buckethead cd's; Electric tears, Population override, and Elephantman's alarmclock) would work. I'm ganna try it and I'll let ya know.

Myth statement Status Notes Talking to plants helps them grow. Plausible Seven small greenhouses were set up on the M5 Industries roof. Four were set up with stereos playing endlessly looping recordings (as having the MythBusters actually talk to the plants could contaminate the samples with their expelled carbon dioxide): Two of negative speech, two of positive speech (Kari and Scottie each made one positive and one negative inducing soundtrack), a fifth with classical music and a sixth with intense death metal music. A seventh greenhouse, used as a control sample, had no stereo. The greenhouses with the recordings of speech grew better than the control, regardless of whether such talk was kind or angry. The plants in the greenhouse with the recording of classical music grew better, while the plants in the greenhouse with the recording of intense death metal grew best of all.

Lol, imagine if you seen someone talking to plants though..haha i get your co2 point though, but i dont know lol. I have heard the music theory but I dont see how that would help a plant grow, last time i checked my plant didnt have ears..lol

i've been playing classical and marley for years to my ladies with great success!! just because you can't see it, doen't mean it doesn't work...i know it's been proven that playing classical music to babies in the woom is beneficial, so why not plants?....i have a huge playlist thats on loop 24/7 in my garden...plants are living things and they respond to the vibrations and maybe even the positive vibes....

Possibly the vibrations moving through the air and ground cause the stem to vibrate. This would allow the soil to stay loose and air to move between the soil as it vibrates. The plant itself would be under tiny amounts of stress, as we know strss causes the plant to grow to compensate. (as we do with fans blowing air across them).

This is all guessing though lol...maybe they do have ears?

Great responses so far. I have seen the mythbuster's episode but there are many studies on the web about this topic and I just wondered how many used music in this way.
