For a person who wants to grow 1-3 plants for personal medicanal use (illegally though), what are the laws in canada now? I read somewhere that in 2006, 1-3 plants is 5000$ fine and 1 year. Is this still the same?

Strap on a set and go for it.. U have nothing to worry about the laws unless u live in Alberta.. I can give u examples of current cases and cases in the past and a case that is relevant to what you are asking about. U will only get a promise to appear, just so that you get a probation officer. About 2months ago, a friend was apprehended for 33 plants, drying, and was let go. I can elaborate in details but they are not relevant. Just go for it because nothing u do under 9 plants will even get u close to jail time in Canada!!!!!

I've never heard of different laws for alberta and I live here. what's different? Also I heard that the conservatives were pushing for mandatory minimum sentences for even 1 plant. Not sure if that passed.

Depends what province. And it also depends where you live in that province. Municipalities can have different penalties in different places. Municipalities also tend to have their own Police departments and not RCMP. If you live in a more rural area, chances are RCMP will have jurisdiction and they may be bored and looking for something to do that week. (Like bust your ass and get paid overtime to go to court)

Honestly though, 1-3 plants isnt shit. I wouldnt be worried at all in Canada. If you can convince a judge that your not a criminal, and you were growing Lawfully then you wont get any jail time. Legal and Lawful are 2 very different things, even in the eyes of a judge. Convince that judge you were being totally Lawful (not hurting anyone, not dealing to anyone, not stealing so no actual victims in the 'crime')


Is there a reason you havent just got Medical status to grow Legally?

The criminal code of Canada doesnt change. But certain things and misdemeanors....like growing a plant, are different from province to province.

And also different in that province depending on if your in a Municipality or a Rural area under RCMP jurisdiction.

Its kinda one of those things that no one want to get into details on. No judge in their right mind really wants to convict someone who is an honest hardworking person for growing a single plant for personal use.

And Alberta is worse. I wouldnt grow weed in Alberta personally. RCMP are assholes out there. Theres a reason Alberta isnt the pot capitol of Canada. All that open space, you would think there would be more major operations getting busted out there.
