I've never run into this so I'm going to ask.
Has anyone, particularly those of you who are advanced growers, ever tried to cross pollinate a Hops plant with a cannabis plant? I've heard they're related. If they are related, wouldn't they have the probability to come out like a giant cannabis flower but look like a Hops Plant? Anyone? |

hmm maybe you could ferment it and make beer and get drunk/high
unlikely to be possible unless you have some sort of genetic engineering degree... |

Interesting idea. They are related:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabaceae
However, I wouldn't expect the product to give you a better high than cannabis. At best something like a very bad indica. |

My sister had planted zucchini squash and pumpkins next to each other in her garden for 5 years and this year they cross pollinated and she got squakins. They were long like zucchini squash but they were orange and had the indentations like a pumpkin and they had a kind of a woody skin like pumpkin.

The squakins mainly tasted like any other gourd. Kind of like a winter squash. |

Surely the big brains in seed banks already thought of that. Soon they will probably be able to transfer the DNA sequence responsible for THC-production in a completely unrelated plant or animal and we will be able to grow huge pumpkins with 30%+ THC content or even have our dog crap high quality hash.
But the government will pass a law that will forbid THC-related DNA sequences and will send out cops with DNA scanners to probe our dogs droppings and instantly determine our addresses and DNAs. |

I remember the first grow book I ever bought in about 1970 had a chapter showing how to cross pot and hops. The idea/hope is/was that the veg would be hops, which is kinda vine-like, while the flowerz would be ganga.

One of the major requirements of a species is that it CANNOT breed with other species. The very few that have this ability can only do so with VERY similar species and are sterile. Years of work in a professional lab might find a way to cross the two but other than that I'd say its not gonna happen...
