guys my company uses sodium floodlights around the building and i wonder if the bulbs they use are suitable for my grow set up, my electrician friend says i can have loads of free bulbs if they are good? just wondered if there is any difference between bulbs labelled growlights" and just standard hps are any difference

The watts are probably different. HPS Growlights usually have a ballast.

Security lights and the like dont. And they watts are alot less. Like 70w or so.

A few used together would be ok....but then you'd be better off just getting a growlight.....alot cheaper and more bang for your buck.

I just looked online...they do have some higher watt security hps lights....I saw all the way up to 200w.

There the same thing. i used to street lamps for my first grow 1 250w hps and 1 150w hps,both took metal halide bulbs. the ballest comes with it but not alot of wiring. so the ballest has to go right next to the light unless u make the cable longer but i couldn't be bothered!!!!
