How come a few of my seeds that sprouted had no leaves when they dropped the seed? Its just a stem coming out of the soil. Most of my seeds had leaves when they sprouted. Are they certain to die?

oh! i did find a tiny white bug. I didnt think much of it cause it was so small. And by the way, all my plants were grown from start outside in miracle grow soil. Only 5 out of 15 survived due to a heavy rainstorm when I was away.
