i have put sooooooo much effort into my actual veg/flower set up that i have totally forgotton how to keep a couple of mothers alive in a veg state!! haha unreal.

first off i want to know how many mothers will i need to keep to grow 16 plants!!!!!

and the next MOST important thing is, how can i keep mothers growing in veg state for the cheapest way possible?? but i dont want to skimp of quality!!!!

any ideas?

you'd possibly only need to keep one plant, but id keep 2 ust incase..
to keep those mothers in veg get a light and leave it on for 18/6 simple, like you've always done

also how long can you keep a mum for cuttings????? how long shall i keep them before i should change the 2 mums for 2 new mums????

you can keep a mother for ever and ever if you so wanted to and could keep it alive that long

keep it in a vegative state on 18 hours of lighting plus

next, think about what happens when you top a plant

if you top a plant then the two growth tips beneath it become the most active and they start to shoot up so you get 2 in the place of one

when you take clones don't take the whole stem, try to leave a node or two so that two new growth tips can come back in its place

when your ready for more clones take new growth tips and 2 become 4 and so on

with a good mother there is absolutely no reason that you can't take 100s of clones from 1 plant it all depends on how you go about it

what i would do is the 16 plants that you will be vegging, i would take cuttings from them as soon as you can, and clone as many as you can. then get a few cfl's tell you put the ones that you just took the cutting from into flower, then just move the clones over to the veg room and repet this. this is the best way to keep your rotation going. good luck

would he not end up with male clones then and wasted medium and clone gel?

if he wants a mother let it mature and sex before taking clones, because at least then ifyou fail you can easily take a bunch more,

plus you don't get one the main benefits of cloning which is to get the genetics of each the plants to be the same, so they grow uniform and make a the best canopy

if your mother and clone the best option is to have one mother and keep taking clones off of that one

find the keeper and then run with it

mmmmmm i only want to veg 16 plants as a time and then switch to flower, i dont want to constantly cycle veg
and flower.
When u take a clone from a female, is it also gurenteed to be a female?

no you have one mother in permanent veg and then your clones flowering in a seperate area,

if you don't have two areas its going to be hard for you to achieve no matter what you do

even if you take clones off the ones you have now, they will all have to go in flower with the mother because you don't have two seperate areas and then your going to have to start back at square one

if they are female plants that he take the clones off of then they are going to be female to the end.
