interesting results with flowering clones.

As it turns out, it is indeed possible to clone a plant @ 6 weeks of heavy flowering... These 2 were thrown in about 10 days ago - into a drinking glass, with 1/10th strength nutes... Now they have roots and are still healthy. They are from an AK-48 (my AK48grow).

No special cloning devices, bubblers, or rooting hormone/compounds - just pH'd water and a dash of nutes. See below

nice! i should consider cuttin a lil clone off my lemon skunk its almost 7 weeks though >< and i never really saw ur method of rooting. wut do u do exactly just cut it and leave it in water till its rooted? does it have to be in dark or light? how much light? is this proven better than if i were to cut clones and plant in dirt using humidity dome?

good work NYK!!! can i ask is the light a cfl and have you had it on 18/6 or just straight 24/7? + rep for disproving the myth you cant take a clone in flower.

i do it allthe time. yes they will root. taking them 1 or 2 weeks in flower is better.

Thanks. I have a desk lamp with a 24 hour/day, 23watt cfl (2000k color) shining on them. They actually showed roots in 7 days, but the pics are from day 10. I dont know if this method is better than the whole "humidity dome with hormones" routine, as this is my first attempt at cloning anything. But I thought it was worth a mention given the circumstances. I was very surprised at the fact that it was sooo easy. Now, I need to get them into a more proper medium like a mini DWC bubbler.

I dont know if it has anything to do with the strain or not, but the mother is very vigorous and is packing on serious weight in her 7th week of bloom. It grew into a power bush.

I used to always have to re-vegg flowering clones b/c i had only a 4 foot 4 tube t5 and I kept my plants quite short (under 2 feet) and thus branches were not big enough to clone yet so a couple weeks into flowering after the vigorus growth spurt I'd hack a branch and veg her out 24 hours of light due to the overload of flowering hormones your trying to reverse they also can tend to take a while longer to root because of the flowering hormones....Also fully flowered plants can be harvested re-vegged and also cut and cloned

yes u can indeed clone a plant that is heavily flowered but unless u are going to lose the strain there isnt much point in doing so,it takes several weeks to get back to normal veg growth which is just wasting time off your crop cycles,making it very inefficant...just thaught ide throu my 2 cents worth in....peace

Hey Zaggie. Have you ever tried it before? It has been exactly 13 days since I cut them with an unsanitized razor and threw them in a glass of pH'd water. I put them into a mini DWC bubbler I made for them a couple nights back, and the roots have taken off. Not to mention they are actually growing faster than any seedling of the same hieght. I think it is going pretty well.

How long does it take for most regular clones to root?.. I dont know the answer because I have never personally tried it until now.

I think when dealing with unstabilzed strains, it is good to preserve a certain phenotype of that strain by cloning it out. I was forced to take clones late because I hadnt researched how easy it actually was accomplish, until a couple weeks ago. I liked the vigorous pheno I had and wanted to do it one more time.

How long should it take before it reverts back to normal, incremental growth? So far this girl has been around for 3 months..

Im not quite sure if I get this but seems interesting. You are taking a clone from however many weeks into flowering it and re-vegging it????? As in 18/6 or 24/0 for however long? Like above I would assume it would have a chance to hermie. That makes sense. But ill have to keep up in this thread and see what happens! Let us know.

I'm gonna still try with these 2... It seems to be one of those adaptive plants that doesnt give a shit and just goes with the flow. They were well cared for in the first place, only stress they might have had was when they were trained to fit the screen.

I have read how many people have had great success with this. Would be fun to bust the myth!

This looks like its going to be very interesting and fun for ya.

My only question is what lighting cycle are you giving these plants after they have rooted? Dumb question but I cant seem to put my finger on it after reading the thread.

Yeah, right now I just have a 23watt CFL aimed at the 2 clones 24 hours a day(2200 kelvin color). I want them to know that playtime (flowering time) is over so 24 hours for now...

I have them in their new home now (mini DWC bubbler) and the roots have outgrown their 2" net pots. I'll post pics soon. I built the cloner for a total of $14.00 U.S. - and it works great
