Ok Im wondering if anyone knows how thermal imaging works? I mean can the heat be picked up on other sides of walls or roofs?

It works on the micrometer wavelengths of the EM spectrum.

Most materials allow these waves to pass through them, at least partially. Like walls and roofs.

So If Im running 1000 - 4000 watts in a garage and I have all the tech stuff to keep temps down nicely and everything is insulated do I need to worry about thermal imaging?

I'd suggest silver or gold reflectors. They block(reflect) IR by over 99%.

Technically thermal searches are unconstitutional.

It's usually a microscopically thin layer applied on aluminum(95% IR reflective). But they are much more expensive.

yeha i believe its illegal for DEA to randomly search with thermal imaging, they can only do it if someone snitches on you, and then i think they look for heat exiting through a vent, so if your heat vent it a lot hotter then the rest of your area might be an indication
