so im lookin to try some new nutes and see if there is something better than the nutes i have been using thus far..

i broke it down between canna and house and garden.

so i went to my local shop and was talkin to the guy who worked there who happened to be from humboldt.. he said a lot of guys up there are using the house and garden stuff now for hydro, and that it is probably the best hydro nute on the market now adays. he has used advanced, gh, canna and hg, and said that canna and hg give him about 30 percent better yeild on average over gh, and about 10 percent better than advanced.

he tried canna and house and garden, but had slightly better results with hg, and his ph stayed insanely stable.

i did some research and turns out this guy van de zwaan basically helped formulate canna nutes and biobizz before branching out and starting his own gig. supposedly it is one of the most popular nutes in europe and is the shiznit..

now of course i take everything anyone that works at a hydro shop says with a grain of salt, especially when trying to sell me a more expensive product but so far i have read good things about house and garden.

so i am trying to find out if anyone has used house and garden, and if so what their experiences were.. is it better than canna? is it worth the money?

I use Van de Zwaan, I have the whole line except algen flakes. I dont have anything to show for it at the moment. but the root accelerator although expensive has made my roots giant white fuzzy noodles. I have never had any nute burn, but i stick to the feeding chart plus I add 30ml of h202 per gallon since the line doesnt call for supplemental beneficial bacteria. I can notice giant differences from my old regimen of ("GH FloraNova" and "Kool Bloom" "B52" and "gravity" h202. ) also, I recently picked up some Bud Blood from AN that the hydro guys said would supplement the Home and Garden products nicely and get the flowering cycle to start quicker.... (grain of salt)

Hopefully more people will see this and start to post their experiences, Id like to hear them too!

nice reply bud, thats the kind of things i keep hearing about hg, the ones who dont like it seem to not follow directions or throw a bunch of other stuff in it..

I'm currently using the Hydro A and B. It works great. I had some issues in the second week of veg due to a bad ph electrode but after I replaced that everything is good. I used them for my first grow a while back and from what I can tell my smoke would have been great if I wouldn't have pulled it way to soon since I didn't know what I was doing. I would also like to hear other people's experiences; it doesn't seem like a lot of people use these nutes.

ya i cant find many find many grows with it but it looks like a solid product.. those that have used it do indeed like it.

the guy basically created canna and biobizz so i know it cant be any worse because obviously he is going to put all of his know how into his own nutes, but i just wonder if they really are better and if they are worth the price... although there is not a lot of additives they are a tad pricey.

seen H&G and Canna run side by side and from experience H&G seems to be the better line. Common sense tells you that if this guy created Canna and Bio Bizz, and these are his OLD lines, then his NEW line (H&G), which bears his families name, is probably better. You will probably see similiar results between the two (Canna & HG) but H&G is just that little bit better in my opinion. The roots excelurator (HG) is an AMAZING product, far better than the rhizotonic(Canna). Top Booster and Shooting powder (HG) are also very good products (be careful with the shooting powder takes alot from your plants, so you better make sure they are very healty). The Canna Boost is an AMAZING product but at $105USD/L is a bit expensive. All in All i would say HG is the way to go. Taste, Potency, Yield, Density, Trich production all seem to be a little better with the HG. If i was gonna use Canna, i would use the HG Root Excelurator instead of Rhizotonic for SURE. The Magic Green (HG) is also AMAZING for greening up stressed or yellowing plants. It is not in the basic feeding chart because it is not required but use it once (AND ONLY ONCE) a week if you see any nute def's and it will green you right up. I say DO NOT USE IT MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK because if you do it will screw up root production because the plants will find it easier to get nutes through the leaves rather than the roots. A few more reasons people are choosing HG over Canna are: 1. same A+B Base line through veg&flower, as opposed to Canna Terra A+B (VEG) & Canna Flores (Flower). Also HG has AMAZING ph stability and NO SALT BUILDUP..... Seems to me like the guys over at HG listenened when people told them what they wanted in a nutrient line. Yes it is a little pricey, Yes it is a little complicated when first starting...BUT... YES IT IS WORTH IT.

i have never used advanced but compared to FF, GH, Bio Bizz and couple other lines ive seen used there is no comparison. Just my 2cents. Hope it helps.

I agree with everything you said except the part about it being complicated. If you know how to read it isn't the slightest bit complicated. If you follow there direction exactly you will get good results. If you suck at measuring you will still get good results unless your ridiculously far off in which case you're probably to stupid to grow anyways. I know because I'm really lazy with my measuring and things still turn out fine.

LOL yeh it is pretty easy as long as you can FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Flo i know you asked about the aqua flakes sorry for cluttering up your thread with info about the soil line. Lemme just tell you something though.. i was skeptical of switching from Canna. I used HG and i am VERY VERY happy w/ the results. Also.. if you were smart you'd call the company and talk with one of the techs for a few mintues. Once he/she realizes you are the slighest bit knowledgable they will probably offer you some free samples which unlike other companies, are not little 100ml bottles. My buddy called and ended up with upwards of $500 worth of free stuff, actually enough to get through one big run. WOW WHAT A RUN ON SENTANCE.. MAYBE I SHOULD SMOKE ANOTHER ONE EH?

Side Note: Today was the first time i have ever posted here on RIU. Flo i've read most of your threads and i have thoroughly enjoyed them. Please post back w/ any ?'s, comments, info whatever. I'm always tryin to learn something new. Holler

well this is a bit old LOL but ive mentioned on other threads that i switched to HG and love it..

its the easiest nute ive used besides gh to be honest.. mix it, let it sit, ph it, add the additives and bingo..

no salt builtup, stable ph, amazing results.. what more could you ask for

Hey Flo... should use calmag? Or does it already have it included in the line? It says use RO water so im assuming it is included in the lineup? i always added about 7-10ml/5 gal when it calls for 25ml on the bottle of calmag..
