Hey guys, I just found this on seedman.com, they are plastic bags with soil-moist crystals in them that come sterile and are used for seed germination. What do YOU guys think? Are they worth it?

Good point, god knows I have spent enough! It does work well for me to, but you never know, this could be good for those hard to germinate seeds that need more time in a moist environment because it's sterile.

i would waste my money or seeds on this if you want to use sterile medium for sprucing go for rockwool or perlite you baked in the oven.

and in general, i'm a advocated of the sprucing in grow medium method, no messing with the seeds

just add some cloning hormone and even the hard to spruce ones will do their job
and such a sterile bag you have with normal fresh zip-locks too, fill those with some perlite if you like and volá, the cheap men's version of this pack

I hear ya guys, thanks. I sometimes gravitate towards the shinny gadgets I will stick with the paper towel method, hell I could make one of these myself for half the cost if I wanted to. Thanks, sometimes I don't know when NOT to spend...

There's a another post out there somewhere that someone did a test and got 8 out of 8 seeds to germinate using Soil Moist. Big advantage and also you can easily get them out without root damage. You can also buy the same crystals at HD (by Miraclegrow) it's enough to last you about 100 years of heavy germinating .... for $6.99

I haven't tried it but will for the next grow. Last time I bought WW seeds from Hemcy and only got one good plant out of it. Thank goodness she was a female!! I tried everything to get those seeds to germ but they were either very sensitive, very stubborn or just crappy seeds!
