Hi,

Im relatively new to the growing side of weed, having never attempted to grow before im currently reading up as mch as I can about the subject.

My predicament would be that I want to grow a small amount of bud for personal use. 2 or 3 plants, heck maybe even one would do.

I kinda need to use my loft space to keep it away from my parents, problem is the loft is fairly coolin temp.

Could any of you guys give me advice on the easiest most cost effective method I could use to grow weed up there.

I contemplated the aero garden, but with it being cool up there im not sure how I would over come this.

a space heater would solve your heating problem.....as far as keeping it from the parentals....good luck there really isn't a good way to do this. Hiding something from the outside world is easy...hiding something from someone you live with.....ehhhhh good luck

I would build or buy a cabinet, at least 4x4ft big, 5+ft high. Get some cheap 150w HPS lights.

If you need to take care of the smell, then get a carbon filter, 4" flange, at least 11bls of carbon and a 4" vortex fan. Would take care of any odor and would be great for exhausting the cab. Just use passive intake (a few holes at the bottom of the cab)

The cold could actually be good. Most people only ever have heat issues because of the lighting. Cold is good because heaters are a hell of a lot cheaper then air conditioners.

Do your parents know you will be growing?

A heated fan could take care of two needs at once:the temperature and the demand of circulating air. im also a rebel growing in my parents house (lol) and i would suggest getting some cool fluorescent lights( as many as you want without burning the plant) for the vegetative stage, and some warm ones for flowering. Fertilizer is up to you, i just use compost and worms.
And if you get caught- i had nothing to do with it

So if I built a cabinet to go up in the loft would it be enough heat to just have off the lamps? What about when the lamps are off during flowering? It is a fairly large loft so a space heater would not efficiently heat the whole area as heat would escape through the roof. Would I be able to make use of any of the starter kits you get with a grow tent etc?

well what temperatures are it really in your attic? warm temperatures are better but they dont have to apply. if i was you i would get something to take care of the smell. and if ur gunna build it in a cabinet i would get one of those CO2 makers because u wont rel get any air circulation in a cabinet.

No, they really arent. Most people have heat issues because the lights are too hot.

Heaters are fucking CHEAP, you can buy a 1800w forced air heater for like $15-20 brand new at Wal Mart. That would take care of Any cold issues.

If you had a hot attic that would be bad, an AC will cost a lot more.

read eza's thread on THC. i really dont feel like explaining but that thread says it all. And when i was talking about warmer temperatures i didnt mean like 80's to 90's, i was talking about likt 50-70. During most of the plants growth as long as its above freezing it should b fine.
