If you are NOT using organic nutes, treat the nutrient tank with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), 50% horticultural grade, at 1ml H2O2 per 1 litre of tank volume. Might go to 4-5ml as a one time shock treatment to kill the mass of pathogens.

H2O2 will instantly kill the pathogens and oxygenate the roots. Regular treatment, every 3-4 days, with 50% grade H2O2 at 1ml/litre will keep your tanks and roots pathogen-free as well as add oxygen direct to the roots.

You can substitute weaker grades as found at pharmacies. 3% H2O2 should be used at 17ml/litre of tank volume. 6% at about 8ml/litre.

no i mean if your base nutrients are something like general hydroponics(gh for short) then using super oxy or 35% hydrogen peroxide will help for sure. if your using something with beneficial fungi then hydrogen peroxide will kill everything in it too

The medium can be dirt, peat, coir, etc. as long as any amendments meet organic criteria. As was said optimal organic growing is as much about growing good soil as it is about growing good plants, when the soil is happy the plants are.
