That picture is by magash from the shroomery. Not sure who was using it but if it wasn't magash, it wasn't their picture!

Anyways, those are clones that were put into flowering as soon as they rooted. That's the secret.

I believe the "secret" has more to do with not letting the plants get root bound than it does when you actually flower them. fdd keeps plants 6ft tall + in some pretty small pots and they are outdoors.
He also has kept indoor raft plants in little bitty ass post that were (what looked to me like) about 2-3 foot tall

so basically if you give the plants everything that they need, they dont NEED big roots, and will do very nicely with small ones

the guy that posted the pictures even said that they came from another user and another site.... dont be so jumpy to be so eager

too bad I dont have an indoor room i could do this with if they start a contest
