Hey everyone! I just put up a large storage shed on my parents property and I will be starting a second grow in the top of it. This weekend I will be running the Uf wire out to it and wiring up the boxes. My question is about how much more per month will 2 400 watt hps raise the electric bill? Keep in mind I am going to be doing other things to counter this power consumtion such as not leaving my computers on. Not leaving lights and T.v.s on and so fourth. I know that the figure is hard to get exactly right without knowing how much a month They're paying. But I dont know either so im just looking for a ballpark guess. Thanks!

in english a 400 watt on adverage will use 23.00 usd per month this is based on a 12/12 cycle

So buy a bunch of cfl's and and switch out all the lights in your house to low watt cfls. They will produce just as much light as the ones you have in there atm, but they will use less energy. If you did this for all the ones in your house, would balance the hps's out.

Would be expensive for all the cfls tho lol : )

But I got 2 6500k Daylights @ 26 Watts(100eq) for $6.94 At walmart
And if you want a red spectrum CFL go to a dollar store, $1 for 100watt eq bulbs.

this is a good idea I run about 450 watts total cfl on my grow i changed most of lights in the house to cfl also and the electrical bill is almost exactly the same there was a spike for the 6 weeks i ran my portable heater will not do that anymore. 800 watts of lights and a little energy conservation elsewhere and it will be almost unnoticeable... I believe computer and t.v. are huge energy hogs so if these get turned off when not in use that may very well balance it out . Anyways good luck with the grow wish i had the resources available to build a remote grow room
