Bad seeds? Its gotta be

Hey, I spent about 2 weeks off and on building my grow room last night finally finshing my $20 Carbon scrubber/filter! Not sure if anyone posted this idea but ill throw it out there since I used some ideas from this forum to build it. First I got the idea of how to apply the carbon to a scotts rag with tiny holes in it to use as a filter which works GREAT let me just add! Then I got the idea from a guy at work to use a 4" PVC tube about 5 inchs long then connect a reducer coupling to any end of the 4" PVC but before you connect it take ur scotts carbon rag and place it on the end your connecting the reducer coupling to which will secure the rag to the PVC pretty tightly. Now you cut a 3-5 inch peice of PVC that is 3" since we reduced down in size and so on till you can link up to whatever size duct work you are using. Then get a computer POWER SUPPY fan not a computer case fan. The reason for this is because the power supply fan has higher AMP/CFM levels then the normal case fans do (Differnce in efficiency being about x2 stronger (.50a 80CFM+) as to the case fans only pulling about 35 CFM. Then I did the same thing for the intake end of the air flow system with out the rag and the system works GREAT in my closet. So after all this long hard work mounting everything I guess I should not be using bagseeds I have... They were from some bangin stuff I got but heres the problem. I germ'ed them and they cracked just fine but when I plant them they never seem to be able to sprout! I think this might be for a few reasons other then just the seeds not being great... I was using these little peat seed starter containers and they are only about 1 1/4" inchs deep... So not much soil is need at all... and I think that might have something to do with my seeds all drying out and dieing before they sprout since there is not enuff soil to hold water long enuff?? I know you only need to water the seeds once after you plant them at the start but it seemed like I had to more because everytime I checked on them the top of the soil was completely dryed out... Does anyone know if this could be a part of the problem in addition to not using good seeds from a vendor?

i've got 6 bagseed plants going, they all sprouted fine

try another medium if it not working for ya

If the seeds are white and fragile. They are immature seeds. Plant the darkest ones. Bagseeds will germinate under the right conditions. seeds are good for about 2-1/2 years.

The seeds are dieing because you are not keeping them moist.When the seeds have sprouted place the peat pots in a shallow tray with a 1/4 in of water in the bottom of the tray.This way they self water and will last all day before you need to add water.
When using any coco or rockwool and peat pots you need to soak them in PH balanced water for at least 24hrs before planting the seed.The ph in these products is over 7 from my own findings.OPH

they have to be in a dark enviroment. So just check onthem every day.

Try germinating the seeds be4 u put them into the soil germinating - Get a plate and a bowl that will fit over the plate so no light will get in. Get a paper towel and your seeds(the darkest ones) and lay the paper towel on the plate and put the seeds on top of the paper towel and lightly spray the seeds with distilled water(to get the seeds off on the right ph(6.5))
Cover the plate with your bowl and place the plate on a heating element just so there is a little warmth not too hot. Just warm. between70-80 degrees. Let sit for two -four days until they germinate. ...sorry.. they have to be in a dark enviroment so only check on them once every day.

Don't tell that to my seeds,they might stop sprouting .I have never germinated seeds in darkness,and have very good germ rate also.
Think about all of the seeds that fall off of wild pot and sit on top of the ground.Do you think someone goes around and covers them up so they sprout.seeds do not need darkness to sprout,only warmth and moisture.OPH

I agree.. I thought that something was not right when it would be bone dry in less then 24 hours.. I forgot to figure that the peat pots would soak up the little bit of water that I was giving them (Since I was careful not to over water). I going to use normal plastic cups and start a new batch.
