Default Cabinet Idea
I was thinking of building this combo cabinet for my gf. She's interested in growing so why not. Anyway, it should be easy to convert for growing "my stuff".

But there will be 2 - 6 plant dwc bubbler's on the bottom area and an adjustable shelf above that. Both levels will have their own lighting. Probably all cfl's while she's growing. Id change the lower to hps lights if I were using it. No floor on the bootom. Both bubblers will sit on pushcarts.

Lights for the upper section will be adjustable...lights on adjustable shelf will not be. Shelf will just be lowered if bubbler plants need more light...and upper light will be lowered for plants on flower/plant shelf.

Any questions or concerns about the idea would be appreciated. Im trying to consider as many variables as possible before I start construction.

Two part cabinet. The bubbler section is one....the flower/plant part will sit on top of the bubbler section.

Pic cut of....its 6'5" wide

in general it is a great plan, how big the distance between the bubblers and the HPS? also are those HPS air-cooled? this would add largely to the space you have to work with. that would be some open questions with me, but besides that the setup is great

The distance between the bubblers and the hps would be whatever you needed. Simply lower the shelf where the hps lights are mounted to bring the light closer to the bubbler plants.

I was thinking the hps would need to be aircooled as well...but Id have the fans on either side on both levels. The face will be open so I was hoping that would be sufficent to keep the temps down. But for now its just gonna be an herb/flower/spice garden thing. So all lights would be cfls.

If converted for me to grow the good herbs...I'd add a lightproof curtain so the bubbler area is seperated from the upper lights/room lights. The upper would be a cloning area if I were using it.

just fans won't do the trick, you would need some glass plate as buffer in between to keep the heat away, the fans only disperse it thru the grow below.

the up i thought is veg/mother/clone room in once which adds a space issue too. all that would as for adjustable light fixtures for every need.

and the hps should be fix mounted to the shelf, that is what i did in my veg box a few years back, i still use that thing as you can see in my journal, but it isn't perfect at all! rather use chains or steel rope strings for the job
