Hey guys im new here and new to the growing world i have never grown any other kind of plant in my life.I did alot of reading and had some bagseeds from a dealer around here with a good strain.Now im not a fan of smoking dope or anything,infact i hate the stuff!ahaha juss thought it would be a fun project to take on and maybe give some to my buddies.So heres what i did,i took 2 seeds attempeted to germinate in paper towel inside a closed plastic bag,i checked one of the bags after 2 full days only to find out the husk had cracked altough it had dried out and the other one was not even mentionable.i went for broke and put all 5 off the seeds i had in different baggies and the damaged one is starting to sprout.from growing within the first few weeks i created a 12x8x8 box with a closed top a fan and a 60w light built in,the inside of the box is coated with foil to reflect the light.Im planning on growing one or 2 by putting this box over the clay pots the seeds will be put into.Does this sound like a viable method?the box gets pretty toasty and all i have is a few household lightbulbs all different ranges.im not planning on going pro just thoguht id get a little grow on the go.another thing,i have soil that was taken from the pot of a rose plant and its moist and has a very fresh aroma,it looks like very good soil can i use this?enlighten me

Temperature is usually an issue with tight grow spaces. Hope tha fan can deliver.

I've honestly heard of some good results using normal incandescent light bulbs. Even so, you could get some of those low wattage cfls.

Rose roil is usually acidic, so with at pH under 7. How far under 7 I don't know, but still, i think it'll be good for your plant.

Your setup is ok and will definitely get you some bud. That reminds me... get a timer. This is the most important element of all... timer! It's extremely hard to have to turn the lights on/off every day. You usually end up messing it up somehow. So get a timer.

PS: If you can, loose the aluminum foil and paint the box white on the inside. This will guarantee better reflection of light and less heat build-up.

Well it's sure odd that you'd go to that much trouble and break the law to give smoke to people when you don't believe in smoking.

Anyway you should ditch the foil and use flat white paint, foil is only 50% reflective. You should get more than 60w light and if you are talking a standard incandescent it's the wrong type of light at least get 3 or 4 42w or so compact flourescents at a home center or wallmart or whatever.

And you never use soil that's already used, you just get contanminated soil with bugs.

If you are serious about growing the weed that you hate you should watch some of these video's here so you understand what it takes to get smokable bud. It doesn't happen on it's own indoors. Maybe you do know that since you built a box, I'm just saying... Anyway the videos are great, watch some, here is the link:
